DC Is non-union. :) I had already gone back to work so it was somewhere between June and August 2020, but I'm pretty sure it was about mid-June 2020. I honestly don't remember at this point, because it was such a long time ago and so much has happened sense. I just remember being *at work* when I was checking my messages.
But DC Is non-union, he got paid $500 for the entirety of Umbrella Chronicles. I would not have that image and that script if he had not leaked them to me. There is no other way for me to have gotten those.
They made him audition. Matt Haunter aka Matt Dusing did the line reading with him, and then he shared the video with me and the other "Wesker Children". DC had actually auditioned for another bad guy under the Capcom umbrella and they told him, "You're our Wesker," as kind of the reason why. Since it was early Covid lockdowns, everything was done by him in his converted elevator that he changed into a voice recording booth.
December 2019 was when he bought us all box tickets to the Hollywood Bowl to see Alice Cooper (one of the other Wesker Children's favorite singers) and that was for the end of May 2020. Obviously, we didn't go. But that's when we all started "hanging out" and stuff on voice chat or playing and streaming video games, as kind-of a consolation prize.
So it was definitely between May 2020 and August 2020, no later than September 2020, but I just don't remember exact dates because I was 1. working retail and had to deal with people being nasty about covid and 2. that was five years ago and I am actually traumatized a little bit. If you want to go on his website, he's got all of the youtube videos from when we were streaming up again.
But yeah so you're kind of right that they HAD Canadian voice actors and I know that he says that he got passed over for that, but the Canadian actors started dropping off before RE2R. There would not be *two* different voice actors for RE4 and Dead by Daylight if he had not gotten fired from Dead By Daylight after he recorded his lines, either.
If DC Douglas had not gotten fired, he would've been in RE4R and Dead by Daylight. But instead of that, Craig Burnatowski is the one who did the voice for RE4R, because they had more time to do that, while they pulled Connor Fogarty for Dead by Daylight in a panic because that happened like, literally just two or three days before it came out, iirc.
but yeah so they haven't used Canadian voice actors since kind of the OG run of the games. I think the last one that Alyson Court did (and DC also had *one line in*) was Darkside Chronicles, which came out right about the same time RE5 did.
tl;dr DC is a cheap whore and that's why he was kept on when they replaced the other original voice actors. He was doing it cheap because he knew he would be able to make that $$ back at conventions... plus the whole meeting and hooking up with fans things since like. 2007 or whenever RE5 came out.
EDIT: OH YEAH he was also like, shocked at how small his role was. And that's how I knew it was for Separate Ways. I was like yup you'd get that done in one afternoon if it's for Separate Ways.
I wish I'd kept all this shit, the screenshots and stuff, the dates and the timelines. I have some of it but I just didn't know it was going to be like this
