Dean develops almost an embarrassing crush on Jimmy. He’s so used to Cas, and seeing his face, his body, but on another man — it does something to him.
Jimmy is so different, so expressive. When he smiles, his eyes are open, his eyebrows are high up, and his whole face seems to glow. His voice is bright and easy, so different from Cas’ rumbling tone.
Dean likes Cas just the way he is, don’t get him wrong. It is precisely because Jimmy is so different, that Dean’s heart seems to leap out of his chest each time those curious, wide eyes meet his. Jimmy speaks with his soft voice, and Dean seems to forget what he wanted to ask. He stutters out a string of words that would line up into a clever, flirty joke any other time, but with Jimmy just don’t seem to make sense. But Jimmy’s eyes widen, mouth parted curiously, and he laughs anyway, bright and open.
Cas would tilt his head to the side and say something incredibly endearing. Dean would blink and burst out laughing, and Cas’ face would relax into a tiny smile, eyes crinkled in amusement. Dean would wonder if Cas was feigning ignorance just to make him laugh, and at that thought, his heart would skip a beat.
Jimmy is so different, nothing like Cas at all, it makes Dean feel like his own heart is betraying him. But Jimmy’s eyes are sky-blue, a wonder of the world, and Cas’ are gentle waves, glimmering with something warm, and as Dean meets them both, he wonders how he can look away.
Feeling nostalgic for Supernatural but like…. different?
How about a completed cannon divergence fic that veers off in season 5 and just keeps going from there?
It’s a Destiel fic where Dean and Cas and Jimmy Novak, the man Cas is possessing navigate consent issues, work through trauma (Alastair gets mentioned) and talk about their feelings in various states of undress.
If that sounds like something your interested in, check it out here. If you like what you see, maybe give this post a reblog so others can enjoy too.
It veers off right after the episode The End. So Dean’s fresh out of seeing that horrible possible future. Here’s a short excerpt from the first chapter.

Love Notes Written In Salt And Lipstick
Chapter 1: The End
Dean pulled Cas into a kiss. Didn’t even have to think about it.
Like. Sure Cas had been dead before, splattered across the walls of Chuck’s house like sick modern art. That had been bad, but at least he’d gone out fighting. This time... Dean had watched him die in that bleak, bombed out future Zachariah sent him to, where Lucifer was wearing Sam’s body, and Dean had turned cruel. The sort of person who sent Cas to his death casually. For nothing. For a distraction.
So if right now he was standing on some random deserted street corner in Kanas City with his arms around Cas, trying to protect a body that could take a knife or a bullet without flinching - if he had to kiss him to let him know that he did matter, that this mattered - and say sorry to that other Cas, who a few days ago, five years from now, was throwing orgies he was too high to remember with women whose names he didn’t even know… well. Dean had never been the poster boy for healthy coping mechanisms.
All he knew was Cas’ kiss didn’t taste like smoke or absinthe. It didn’t taste like anything. And Dean kept it going, until he managed to convince himself that it was real. Mostly convince himself.
He broke away. Felt Cas go as silent and rigid as a statue in his arms. Probably, it was a decent idea to back off. But the second he did, one of Cas’ arms curled around him and it was like backing into a wrought-iron fence.
Cas stared at him. Head to the side like he had been asked a question.
“Cas. It’s - I’m…” Dean could do this. “Good to see you. Really, really good timing.”
He could make this right. He could call Sam, tell him he’d been an idiot for saying they should split up. Make it so that nightmare future never happened. Take better care of Cas.
... but then, he knew that he was guilty of looking at Cas and seeing, well, Cas. Not the normal guy who let an angel wear his body. And he was important too. Dean sure couldn’t ignore the broken bits of Jimmy Novak floating around Cas’ head in that awful future. He was still replaying that heart-stopping moment when one of those pieces seemed to surface, and all Jimmy could do was scream.
“Hey Cas…” He wasn't even trying to fight the angelic strength. “Is Jimmy okay?”
Cas looked confused. “You are referring to my vessel?”
“Yeah. You know. Is he... how’s he doing?”
Castiel gave Dean a strange, glazed look. Then the arms holding him shook, the body temperature cooled. Dean had zero idea what was going on, but didn’t have time to do anything about it before the grip around him was different. Now the body leaning against him had a totally normal, totally human amount of strength. And was breathing hard.
Hey uh @paragonred I know this isn’t technically what you asked for but I couldn’t stop myself
I ended up throwing together a Weird Episode in my head (maybe early season 5, if Jimmy survived the Raphael Encounter) where Cas gets yeeted from Jimmy’s body due to some shenanigans and thus has to possess Dean, and they both have to protect Jimmy until he can accept Cas back. Just an episode long Escort Mission, guest starring Jimmy Having Gay Panic and an Openly Bi Dean Winchester.
This is one hell of a niche ship that I didn’t realize I was this into until I started drawing. Cas/Dean/Jimmy? Also what the hell is this show that I’ve been drawing Cas SO MUCH and I get excited to draw Jimmy.
Thanks to Resident Cas-Possessing-Dean Scholar @kweh-not-wark for chatting with me nonstop about this AU yesterday, lmaoooooo
it’s not explicit but this is dcj. for @generaldeliciousness, inspired by this prompt
Dean likes to people watch, and he’s pretty good at doing it without being creepy. His coffee shop of choice is always full of interesting folks, from crunchy hippies to tech wizzes in business casual to kids ditching school to —
Insanely gorgeous twins.
Disgustingly so.
And eavesdropping does toe the creep line a little more, but they’re signing and he can’t help it.
“Don’t look, but,” the one in purple is signing, “ok, look, but be cool. Hottest guy I’ve ever seen at your ten o’ clock.”
The second one — in a blue button-up, sleeves rolled halfway up his forearms, Jesus Christ — rolls his eyes but glances around. Dean quickly looks down at his coffee, then sneaks a look back up.
“He was looking at you,” Blue signs.
“We’re Deaf in public, dumbass. Everyone in this place is looking at us.”
Blue rolls his eyes again. “It’s hard to find people attractive when they’re staring at us for being Deaf.”
Dean cringes.
“Plus,” Blue adds. “Us.”
(We-two, Dean’s brain supplies.)
“Why do you have to ruin all my fun?” Purple says.
“Why did I get demoted from ‘hottest guy you’ve ever seen’?”
Purple looks over again, and this time Dean doesn’t duck away in time at all and their eyes meet across the coffeeshop. Dean offers a smile and Purple grins back.
“You saw him, right?” Purple says, not looking away from Dean.
“You’re impossible,” Blue signs, though Dean is sure Purple misses it, because they’re still staring at each other.
Blue turns towards Dean, his frown a stark contrast from Purple’s smile. Before they can turn away, Dean sets down his coffee — some sloshes over the side — and signs, “So which one of us really is the hottest?”
My hand slipped and I wrote a smoky smutty jimdestiel oneshot. Many such cases.

Summary:
Jimmy took a long pull out of his cigarette and slowly exhaled into the room. His face visibly relaxed, and he closed his eyes, savouring the feeling. “Man, you have no idea how much I was craving this.”
Dean chuckled, giving a lopsided smile. “Weren’t you trying to quit?”
Jimmy opened his eyes, and looked down at his cigarette, freshly-lit. “Ugh. I tried, but… Cassie doesn’t want to, and watching him smoke, it’s tempting.” He took another drag, and Dean willed his gaze to stay locked with Jimmy’s and not fall to the bright red flame at the tip of the stick. “I don’t think,” Jimmy started, then blew out the smoke to the side. “Don’t think I’ll quit until Cas wants to.”
Good, Dean thought to himself. Cas wanting to quit has the same chance of happening as the mountains growing wings.

Jimmy relapses. When Castiel finds out, it leads to some interesting consequences.
