I had an idea for a fic about Cas wearing cute bee things, and then I remembered that I own a perfect pair of earrings for him to wear. So this was born!
sometimes there're reports like "russians relocated military aircraft to prepare for the next massive bombing, the amount of prepared missiles and drones will vastly exceed the previous ones" and then local monitoring channels will be like "guys come on, stop fearmongering 🙄 it's going to be a regular bombing, nothing out of ordinary, just our usual bombing"
4x20 Jimmy Novak was taken a year prior to this episode and considering it's set in winter and Dean was pulled up in mid September 2008, I have to assume this is somewhere around January of 2009, which means that Castiel was running around in a vessel months before Dean died and was sent to hell, which would have been may/june
I'd always assumed that Cas grabbed Jimmy right before/after pulling Dean up or right after he went to hell but uhhh nope. Which makes me think that Cas was maybe sent down without being told exactly why he needs a body, or didn't question why they were letting the righteous man go to hell in the first place, or did question it and was lobotomized again, cuz he says that they started fighting to get to Dean 'as soon as they found out Lilith's plan for him'
Have been asking myself this question ever since 4x20. Wrote a post about it. All the flashbacks we get of Jimmy hint towards the fact that Cas had been courting him for months, so long Jimmy managed to get a prescription for his “delusions” in the meantime. And in the end, it was Jimmy who initiated saying yes after feeling he was about to lose his family if he didn’t find out what Cas even wanted from him.
So Cas had just been patiently waiting for Jimmy to be ready to say yes, not bothering to explain what he needed from him. It directly contradicts Cas’ urgency to find a vessel so he doesn’t blow out Dean’s eardrums. Oh well. I wrote some theories to as to what the timeline might looks like in the post if you’re curious.

I've already said it on twitter but I love how life-affirming dean's character he is SO present in his (shitty) life and he clings to all of it the good and the bad, god is so transfixed by dean because who else clings so much to life on earth as a normal human who else validates god's creation like dean like pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee
Horrified, she whisks the body away and puts him in a suspended Sleeping Beauty state to buy herself some time.
But the surprise is that Sam's ghost is hanging out there like, "OH MY GOD YOU KILLED ME?"
And Rowena is like
😬😬😬😬😬😬😬 "NOT ON PURPOSE, SAMUEL I AM GOING TO FIX THIS"
ANYWAY, when Dean gets suspicious, her cover story is that she and Sam are working a witchcraft case together, but her falsetto is T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E and we all know how bad her acting is... and Dean's not buying it.
So Sam musters his ghost powers and crackles into the receiver, all staticky, saying they need some time because—because “Think of it like a sock on the door, okay?”
....
So now Rowena is locked in her apartment with Sam's corpse and ghost-Sam, pretending she and Sam are on some kind of wild, passionate, romantic getaway.

Side side note: I like to think that during her brainstorming sessions, she dresses Sam in better outfits and at one point paints his face with both sparkly butterflies and a curly black moustache.
Sam isn't even mad at this point, he's died and come back so many times. The cause being a relatively friendly witch who clearly wants him to get back to being alive and also the only "deal" is not mentioning this to Dean ever for both their sakes?
Sure he's down.
Plus, being a ghost is kind of even a little bit fun without all of the apocalyptic nonsense hanging over his head. He floats Rowena's spell ingredients into the pot. He makes the room cold at inconvenient times.
It isn't until he gets back, and realized that Dean thinks he and Rowena are a thing, that it really sets in.
Will I ever get over how Castiel smiting a demon and Castiel transferring back to Jimmy are visually very very similar in the episode where we learn that vesselhood is very much a form of angelic violence? The answer is no
