It wasn't the call he'd expected to get; his help in healing Jonathan. After the things that had happened, after finding out that he was Valentine's son and knowing the teachings that were given to him, the last thing he thought would happen would be for someone at the Institute to call for his help. Either someone didn't want to call the Silent Brothers and get the Clave involved, or something entirely different was going on. Magnus hadn't been too keen on answering the call but given the person on the other end of the call he couldn't tell them no. At least it had been a simple fix and nothing complex. He was certain if it had been worse than that he would've told them no. As it was he wasn't too keen on word getting out he helped someone who's father would rather see him dead than breathing. "Considering you've yet to thank me for even coming here."

     his first thought is that dying hurts like hell. his second is that he suddenly can’t feel a single thing. he hears movement around him - Clary, maybe, or Jace... he dimly  feels the other reaching out to him through his fading parabatai bond but it’s too late. Maellartach is heavy as it sinks into him, driving him to the ground & pulling the air from his lungs. Jonathan- he thinks dimly. they’d come here to stop Valentine, they’d thought they’d beaten him here when they’d seen Jace & Clary but it had been a trap, & he’s... out of all of them, he’s the expendable one. his vision is blurry as he feels the life draining out of him but even so, he forces his eyes open to meet Jonathan’s. he’d promised he’d stay with him, would help him move beyond this, & he’d failed. ‘ I’m sorry, ’ he all but whispers.

Clary Fairchild had summoned him to her base of operations because she had news she judged was important for him to hear and too dangerous to send over their usual channels. The journey to Alicante was a dangerous one and she knew that he preferred to work from a distance so the summoning was reason enough to make him worry about what it could be.

It took him a few days, but eventually he reached her without any problems. He walked up towards her, but stayed at a short distance, noticing that she was conversing with a young man. Raphael could only see his back, but there was something familiar about him, though he couldn’t place what exactly it was. In a break in their conversation he managed to catch her eye, nodding in greeting, “Fairchild.” As she turned around so did her companion, who turned out to be none other than Jonathan Morgenstern. The news must indeed by dire then, if the prince came here himself.

What I am capable of should scare you.” He didn’t even dare look at his lover at this point. “This is the moment you pack your bags and leave because you finally realize it was nothing more than an infatuation, that being confronted with the reality of what I am has terrified you to the core.      ‘ no. ’ one word, one syllable, two letters, defiance & strength. acceptance. Alec rolls back his shoulders & shakes his head, arms crossing before him as he looks into the other’s jet black eyes. he knows what those eyes mean, knows the hidden strength settled into those bones, like a razor wire covered in silk. gorgeous, LETHAL. he knows all of this as undeniably as he knows he’s attached. so attached. irrevocably so if he’s being entirely honest with himself & since that seems to be the theme of today...

     and the icing on all of this is that he’s not actually surprised.

     that should worry him, he knows, but he’s felt like he’s been losing his mind for weeks, imaging the little things that Jonathan had soothed away with some other logical, REASONABLE explanation. traces of power, of an inhuman strength within him, the flicker behind his eyes... and now Alec looks into those sable hues & feels all of the pieces click into place. a demon. he’s been sleeping with a demon. dating a demon, for months now.

     and that demon has held his heart in his hands, has protected him in situations maybe he should have been torn apart.

     ‘ this is the moment I remind you we have reservations for our dinner date in twenty minutes, and it’s a nineteen minute cab ride over, so we should probably get moving. ’
