“clary’s death wasn’t your fault, jace.” he rests a reassuring hand on his parabatai’s shoulder. “and she wouldn’t want you to mourn like this.”

“ you didn’t miss me too much, did you? ” her wicked little grin wanted to poke out and show she kinda sorta missed being around jace. limbs crossed uptight to shove out the bitter chill of the streets, she holds back on so much she’s gone through in the past couple of months. oddly enough, her moving away to soho wasn’t about the action that goes on in brooklyn or in queens; somethings were just meant to be pushed away. and in her own way, she’s apologizing through her expression, bitten lips and softened eyes.

“Is it fair that I’m jealous that you’re spending more time with my boyfriend than me?” Alec had dug through the unsurprisingly empty fridge of the loft in search of snacks and quickly decided he didn’t fancy eating an entire block of cheese. He should’ve expected a warlock wouldn’t keep the kitchen very well stocked when fresh food was available at the snap of a finger. “What have you been eating here anyway? Or do you guys just order in a lot?” He stretched out on the long chair, tossing Jace a bottle of water. - @legacyrisen liked

Alec had seen the worry in Magnus eyes, but it was more what he felt that alerted him to how bad this all was. For a moment he was dizzy, his stomach cramped and it took him a moment to realize he hadn’t eaten but pushed himself way too far. The worry didn’t help, it didn’t help anyone. He realized then, that his state made him a liability, not an asset to the Institute and one of the core issues in this was the lack of his parabatai. They talked, but not truly. And there were lies and evasions, not to mention what hit their family recently. And just then there was an invitation that gave him an idea.
So Alec made his way to Jaces room. He didn’t knock, just went in to see him. “Jace, this can’t go on like this. We’re breaking our bond!” he said, almost softly. “And that’s why I think you and I should go to Idris. I received an invitation from your grandmother and I think it would do both of us good!”
Lydia had finally recovered well enough to return to work. She put in a request to go back to the New York Institute and it had taken a little bit of time for that to get approved, but when it finally was, she was already packed and ready to go. She left Idris with the hope that she’d be returning to see her friends happy faces again. Happy was something she didn’t know if they would be. A lot had happened between the time that she’d been attacked and now. From what she knew, Valentine was finally done with and the Institute had moved on. Well, moved on as well as one did after a mad man tried to take over the Shadow world.
She spotted the familiar Institute in the distance and picked up her pace. Lydia was looking forward to seeing Alec, Magnus, Isabelle, Clary and Jace again. She didn’t know who she would see first since she knew there was a chance that everyone was busy or sleeping. It was the middle of the day, sure, but she knew what their schedules could be like.
Once inside, Lydia made herself at home. Those who were wandering about greeted her with kind smiles and hellos. She settled herself into her old room before she went to seek out any familiar faces. So far none of them seemed to be around, that was until she came to a stop at Jace’s room. Lydia spotted him inside and knocked on the door. “Hey stranger,” Lydia with a small smile. They’d been on decently friendly terms before and she hoped that they could keep that up now. “What have I missed?”

“Well? How’d it go?” The shadowhunter’s eyebrows raised as she awaited the answer from her brother. After all, she was the one he’d come to for help, even if she hadn’t been all that helpful. If she was being honest... the idea of Jace taking someone out for dinner, it was almost unbelievable, but throw in Clary and well... somehow it seemed to make more sense. “Tell me you brought her somewhere for an actual sit down dinner?”
