this is just me popping into your inbox to say that it's been so long since i replayed lws3 that i've forgotten details of the caudecus stuff and i forgot. about the whole. canach gets tortured thing. so due to your tags you've caused me to have both personal and OC-related emotions about that again and thank you for that (sincerely lmao) @kerra-and-company

Hi! Yeah, this scene where Galaëd loses it over Canach being in harm's way has lived rent free in my head for years and @lilypixy and I only just played Season 3 recently so the Head of the Snake chapter is still quite clear in my head 😁

Sorry (I'm not sorry) for causing you such emotions 😆

For a quick reminder of the events of this chapter : after the attack of the White Mantle on Divinity's Reach, the Shining Blade and the Commander chase after the cult in Lake Doric and after their leader, Minister Caudecus, who has taken refuge in his manor.

Inside the manor, Anise tells the Commander a division of Shining Blade has been sent in recon and infiltrated the manor but since gone missing. Amongst them is Canach.

At this point , Galaëd had come to terms with his feelings for Canach — after struggling with them during the entire campaign of Maguuma and being too crippled by grief and the chase of his Wyld Hunt in the year that followed to deal with them — but he had resolved to keep his sentiments for himself at least until Canach was free.

But when they find the agents dead, tortured by Caudecus' High Inquisitor, and reach Canach just in time to save him from the same fate, Galaëd loses it.

Daggers and swords cut the threat of the Inquisitor down, and half a dozen clones shatter in shards of phantasmatic magic to drown the torturer in waves of torment and pain. And it takes all his will and concentration not to turn his ire on Anise.

The incident leaves little doubt as to the depth of Galaëd's attachment to whoever still doubted it... Canach first and foremost...

The weeks until they meet again in Elona are gonna be long, for both of them!
