My brother loved to read. Every Saturday, when he was little, I’d take him to the library and we’d check out a stack of books that sometimes wouldn’t last him the week. He’d read anything and everything, and he remembered everything he read.
He’s smart, Deacon. Crazy smart. If anyone else could wake up from that vault and survive this world, it’d be Floyd. I know you’re only trying to help but stop telling me not to get my hopes up. I know, okay? He may be dead, and I get that, but he could’ve lived a long life. He could’ve met some nice girl or guy, gotten married, had kids, maybe even grandkids. Don’t I deserve to know for sure? I need to know. Okay? I just need to know my baby brother made it out and was happy, and with everything I’ve been through, I don’t think that’s too much to ask!
My favorite headcanon: Deacon is Claire’s missing brother and he doesn’t want her to know. He’s done some horrible things in his past, things he’s not proud of, and the last thing he wants is for his big sister to be disappointed in him. He’s content with being her friend, watching her back, making her laugh, and inciting the best reactions from her with his off-the-wall comments about pre-war culture.
🖋Maya's Journal: 01/02/2288🖋 Deacon would never admit it, but he was worried about Maya going to the Glowing Sea. He wasn’t the hugging type, but she was and he was willing to make the exception. It had been a hell of a long time since he allowed him self to be worried about anyone and it didn't feel good.
