Oh for the WIP tag game would you share a lil snippet from Dead Cherry?
Omg yes thank you for asking!
Just for some background, Dead Cherry is an erotic-ish novel about Ashlynn Cooper, an accomplished mob arsonist and Pretty Nice Guy who starts a relationship with mysterious femme/Georgia peach/certified redhead Cherry Colder, who's recently moved into Coop's building because her father is being tried for the elaborately staged strangulations of like a lot of blonde teenagers. If this sounds ridiculous it's because it is; this project is a repository for all the things I like to write about and is about 40% senseless Hannibal-type violence and 60% bits. Here's a paragraph:
Contrary to popular belief, pyromaniacs made for awful serial arsonists. By definition, pyros were impulsive and internally motivated, the last thing a discerning employer would look for in a professional, and nobody wants to risk being made because the guy they hired stuck around to watch. What made a career arsonist, Leo told her on their first drive, was discipline. Anyone could splash gasoline on carpet or chuck a molotov through an open window, but these were sloppy tactics, and Don Marino had no patience for sloppiness. He wanted competence: someone who could read the character of a vehicle or building and create a tidy narrative upon which no trace of external involvement remained. A clean burn with an innocent ignition: a malfunctioning pilot light, a bad compressor, a forgotten cigarette butt. A career arsonist didn’t concern herself with the whos and whys of the place she was sent to destroy. All she needed was a mark and a match.
