PSA
hey! so if you have the deadname remover extension on chrome, be wary of this message because it might apply to you!
i downloaded the extension and was using it happily for a while, and today i realized that it actually changed the signatures i used on my school email to my current name, which outed me as trans to my professors.
i know that the extension is supposed to be cosmetic only, but it certainly wasn’t for me. be careful and make sure that your emails have the name you are currently going by legally if you’re being professional or sending messages to your school or professors.
i hate having to see my deadname, but it’s better than being outed when i’m not ready.
be safe, i love you all!
So… it’s definitely not the intended use of the thing but I put the deadbame remover extension on forefix at work soley so I could stop seeing Gulf of America on stuff.
Lol.
Its Gulf of Mexico. I don’t care to read Gulf of America.
FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT A DEADNAME REMOVE TO SAY "ADIOS" TO THE JOKE OF A DEAD NAME YOU HAVE!

Coming Out Tip #12
Come out online first.
Coming out in in-person situations can be stressful, so it’s actually a pretty good idea to start off online. Of course, some interactions are better in person, but you can decide what’s the best for you and your situation.
There are plenty of anonymous online groups and safe spaces on social media (like this blog!) where you can be yourself, ask questions, and experiment. A lot of people use these tools to help learn more about themselves. This way, no one knows you in person and you are free to do what you like (just be safe and kind to others).
Changing names and pronouns:
Some people prefer to not formally come out, and that is ok. Since many things are online now you can just change your name or add your pronouns to your zoom/social media/other online profiles, and usually people respect that. You can find online tutorials on how to do that.
A helpful extension on Google Chrome is Deadname Remover. I haven’t used it but I assume it does as it says: replaces your deadname with your real name, but only temporarily. It can be helpful for those who are closeted but need more affirmation in their lives.
Another website is the Pronoun Dressing Room. This can help you to try out a new name and pronouns. It works pretty well, and you can write in any name and pronoun set and have it in a number of different text samples!
