Wait, wait, hold on...
Okay, I know that Deadpool was named as a joke about Deathstroke even his real name is a take on Slade Wilson.
But I've been reading comics for decades and am I only just now realising that they probably named him WADE because of POOL??
Can’t lie, this might be one of my favourite cosplays...don’t know why

Why is it that when you are discussing a movie as an adaptation people are incapable of understanding nuance?
You bring up a point about how it goes against the source material and you are dismissed as wanting a 1:1 translation of the source material.
People act like there is a binary of 1:1 translations or anything goes but it’s not like that, there is a nuance, a medium to get.
There are degrees of accuracy. More poignantly it’s fine to deviate from the letter of the source material so long as you respect the spirit of the source material.
Of course I’m bringing this up due to Spider-Man Far From Home.
When you have a film version of Peter Parker that (and this isn’t my original observation for the record) mourns Tony Stark but doesn’t even mention Uncle Ben, or frames him as the defining figure of Peter’s life over Aunt May (when he is a teenager no less and recently lost Ben) you have fucked up.
It’s not a ‘new interpretation’. It’s a MISinterpretation.
If you want to see the hypocrisy of fandom on display with this (or how they will kiss the MCU’s ass over practically anything) consider how outraged everyone was over X-Men Origins: Wolverine’s version of Deadpool, not least of all because Reynolds was delivering a good Deadpool performance earlier in the movie.
Fans zeroed in on the defining aspects of the character, saw the film version actively lacked them, and called it out.
And yet the same thing happens in this movie and people praise it.
What makes the hypocrisy worse is that the film commits the same sin the Raimi films get blasted for but worse but NO ONE calls it out in my observations thus far.
Remember how everyone kicked Raimi’s films over how they failed at Spider-Man’s humour, how he didn’t quip enough?
Key word there ‘enough’. As in he was doing it but it needed more.
Yeah well FFH has that beat because unless you can prove me wrong, in the costume his quippage level is exactly fucking 0.
Where is the outrage guys?
Did FFH have flashier colours and effects than the Raimi movies that it pacified you?
40/365 : Peter Parker and Wade Wilson. I’ve only read so little, but there’s great fic with great plot and AU for them and it’s so satisfying. Warming up before working on request and other stuff !
