on august 2nd, Misha Collins posted this on twitter:

as a proud statement of what the fandom does and can do

this kickstarted a rush to get the destiel ship to 100k fanworks on ao3, which was at the time approximately 700 works short of that

the rush climaxed last night as the tag #DeanCas100k spread on twitter, used to showcase people's fanworks as well as encourage them to upload to the archive. last night success was reached, getting the tag to over 100k, and a little over 30 minutes ago, Misha tweeted this:

while there's an abundance of fan jokes and speculations about Misha claiming to be a Top!Cas truther, one thing is undeniable:

I don't believe we have ever seen an actor or celebrity come out in such major support of fanfiction in... ever. Misha Collins continually supports and tweets about ao3 and fanworks, posting fanart of Castiel for pride, and even linking ao3 (seen in these two tweets)
