Death dogs are large wild dogs with two heads, found hunting in packs in deserts or underground, and are said to be descendants of Cerberus.  Their double bites can cause disease, and they often aim for their victims’ legs.  (Russ Nicholson, AD&D Fiend Folio, TSR, 1981)  One trait missing from 5e: a natural attack roll of 19 or 20 will knock their target prone.
