FETCH

In English folklore the term for a ghostly double of a living person. The fetch is remarkably similar to a double or doppelgänger but witnessing your own fetch, also called a co-walker, is believed to be a sure sign of your own death, which isn't typically the case for the doppelgänger. If the fetch isn't you it is taken to be a sign that someone close to you will die. In Irish folklore, however, the fetch is only a death omen if it is seen at night; if it is seen in the morning it is thought to suggest a long life.

Legend has it that Elizabeth I of England was shocked to see a corpse lying on her bed. On closer inspection she saw that it was her. Shortly afterwards she died.

John Donne, the sixteenth-century English poet, was allegedly visited by an apparition of his wife while he was in Paris. She appeared to him holding a newborn baby. Donne's wife was pregnant at the time, but the apparition was a portent of great sadness because at the moment it appeared, his wife had given birth to a stillborn child.

Hey, y’all, it’s Weird Wednesday! Where on some Wednesdays, I blog about weird stuff and give writing prompts.

Today: The Gytrash: World's Scariest Cow

Welcome on this Weird Wednesday! Today we’re walking down a lonely country road, looking for a cow whose appearance foretells death. Which is about as weird as anything we do around here.

So say you’re a ways down that country road. It’s late, and the sun’s going down. Your home’s not too far away, but you’re surrounded by trees, so it’s hard to see too far ahead. Then a little distance off, you spy a cow. Of course, cows are common enough in the country. It probably just wandered away from its field. So you decide to be a good neighbor and return it. But the closer you get to the cow, the more something feels…off. As if the cow is friendly, but maybe you don’t want it to be. 

Then the cow heads off the road, wandering into the trees, and you have a decision to make: do you follow it, or not?

So what the heck is a Gytrash? Well, that depends on its whims, presumably. It’s alternatively called a Guytrash or Guytresh, where “trash” comes from “thurse,” meaning “goblin” in Middle English. So it’s some sort of spirit or creature that dwells in Northern England and appears as various large domestic mammals: a horse, mule, cow, or dog. But the point is, it’s not a horse, mule, cow or dog. It’s a supernatural shapeshifter. Sometimes that’s kind of obvious, because the animal will be black with glowing red eyes, something it has in common with hell hounds. 

So what’s it doing there on that lonely road? Again, that depends. In a grouchy mood, a Gytrash can spell doom, guiding travelers away from the road and out into the wilderness, not unlike other malevolent spirits. In fact, for whatever reason, the cow form specifically is said to be a death omen. (Why the cow? I don’t know, but people do very much like to explain inexplicable deaths. Perhaps somebody a long time ago croaked after seeing a weird cow, and a legend was born.)

What if you suspect somebody else followed the Gytrash? The wilderness is an awful place to try to find a missing person. Dense brush or rocky ground can hide a body mere feet away, and animals will scavenge and scatter human remains. But what if your character suspected the supernatural was at fault in this disappearance? If so, it might be possible to counteract it. Perhaps they could contact a magical practitioner to lay a counterspell, or a priest to exorcise evil spirits. Maybe they could even locate a Gytrash-addled victim by scrying or dowsing.

I loved @notllorstel neverhuman au so I did my take on it

And I decided to do my own take on it while Stan isn’t a fea in this story he dose still keep the green eyes and gain 6 eyes altogether with more power.

The basic story so far is that while Stan was running from guys who were trying to kill him, he arrives in gravity falls first. While he try’s running into the forest thinking he’s lost them he gets shot before the bad guys are killed of by the forest wildlife. Stan begs for his life, saying he’ll do anything. Sensing Stan’s death Grim shows up and hearing his plea and seeing he means his words takes him the forest guardian named V.

She tells Stan that if he gives up his humanity and becomes a forest spirit she will let him live. Even though Stan is on the brink of death he ask beside loosing his humanity what else does this mean he’ll have to do. V surprised tells him that he must protect the forest and keep balance between it and human while she will do most of the work when it comes the energy and magical balance.

One last thing is that he can no longer leave gravity falls and will be stuck here forever. Stan while hesitant agreed and began his new life as a forest spirt and grim along side him to help adjust to his new life while V doesn’t talk to him much he dose enjoy her company

Stan becomes a forest sprit around 1972 and so he’s there 2 years before ford arrives, and let’s just say it takes a whole another year for the pair to meet up.

I’ll drop some more lore later as I’m still figuring it out myself but I’m open to suggestions and will drop some more art later :)
