I've just been through just about your entire blog, and I have to say...your art is so heartwarming and excellent. The style and all the characters and the pieces as wholes have a really nice energy to them that feels just genuinely good and full of wonder. Thank you for creating and for sharing this with all of us!
wow thank you so very much! I really try my best to put in emotion and lively energy in my work so i’m really really glad!! Thank you so much and I hope you have a wonderful day!
oh yo im on it. i’ll do mccree/reyes bc i know what you’re about lmao
prompt thing: “ Have you lost your damn mind!?”
“Have you lost your damn mind!?” Reyes roared over the sounds of gunfire and bullets ricocheting off the metal of the overturned cargo container he was taking cover as McCree dropped down next to him from the top of the container. “What the fuck was that little stunt, why were you up there with no cover?”
“ ‘That little stunt’ just bought us ‘round two more minutes for the evac team to get here, thank you kindly,” Jesse grinned, flicking the spent shells out of his revolver and swiftly reloading.
Gabriel ducked as a bullet zinged past his ear, “The evac team doesn’t mean shit if you’re dead, you idiot,” Gabriel shot Jesse a dirty look then leaned out from behind the container to fire at the enemy for a second before ducking back behind cover.
“Aw, keep up that kinda talk and folks might think you actually care ‘bout me,” Jesse gave him a flippant smile then leaned around the cover to return fire.
“Jesse, this isn’t the time-”
“Evac team in range, ground team be ready for immediate boarding. We have a lock on your position,” Captain Amari’s filtered voice came over their coms and Gabriel could have whooped in joy if he wasn’t sure that would get him killed.
He heard shouts from the other side of the clearing and the gunfire shifted it’s focus to the rapidly approaching Overwatch hovercraft. Gabe holstered his guns and grabbed Jesse by the edge of his chest piece. He shoved him forward and barked out, “Move!” as the craft touched down in the clearing behind them.
The loading door opened and a flash of blue shot past them, the familiar sound of Tracer’s guns adding to the firefight to give them some cover while they booked it up the ramp and into the craft, Jesse first with Gabriel hot on his heels.
Gabe ducked as a bullet from the enemy ricocheted off the wall of the cabin and narrowly missed him, “Go go go, we’re clear! Tracer, recall!”
“Ai ai, Commander!” Gabe heard over his coms then a flash of blue next to him had the panting cadet standing in the ship, chest heaving from the adrenaline no doubt but otherwise unharmed.
The ship took off and Gabe slumped down in one of the seats lining the wall, his legs turning to jelly as he took a moment just to breathe. Jesse plopped into the seat next to him and tipped his hat at Lena, “Thanks for the save there darlin’, I owe you one.”
“Nah,” Lena replied, smiling brightly at them, “Just doing my job! Buuut I wouldn’t say no to one of those homemade burgers you make once we get back to base, I’m starving.”
Jesse barked out a laugh then nodded, “You got yourself a deal.”
Lena crossed to the other side of the ship and Gabe to the chance to turn and assess Jesse, “Any injuries?”
“Nope, how ‘bout you, did the big bad boss get a scratch? D’ya need to go see Angela when we-” Gabriel cut him off with a punch to the shoulder that had Jesse laughing and shaking his head, “Right, right, sorry.”
“You better be. And about that stunt earlier, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t buy us the time we needed, but that was reckless, Jesse, and you know it,” Gabe reached over and took the other man’s hand, “Just warn a guy next time. I could have helped if I knew what you were up to.”
Jesse looked down at their hands and sighed, “Right, yeah sorry ‘bout that. I just saw the opening and I had to take it, didn’t figure I had enough time to tell you the plan.”
Gabe reached over and tipped Jesse’s hat up so that he could press a reassuring kiss to his forehead, “I know. It was quick thinking, and there’s something to be said at the end of the day for it working.”
Jesse leaned up and caught Gabe for a full kiss, their lips working together with familiar motions. Jesse smelled like sweat and gunpowder and a bit like his honey scented shampoo that Gabriel refused to admit that he loved.
They broke away when turbulence made their teeth clack together painfully, the whole cabin shaking around them. Jesse flashed a crooked grin and Gabe snorted, shoving his hat over his eyes. Jesse laughed as they strapped into their seats. It didn’t take long for their hands to find each other and clasp together, giving the other person a way to center themselves during the long flight back to the base.

deathturret replied to your post “Ahaaa I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but… any chance I...”
I could maybe take a look, what exactly are you looking for in terms of a beta?
Ahh a couple things. Mainly whether or not the scenes in this chapter really “work”, seeing if I can pare the length down juuust a little in spots so it matches others more evenly, lookout for weird sentence structures and stuff that doesn’t make sense that I don’t see when I read it myself. ;u;
