i think if i really paid attention

exhales could be found in the safest places:

in the sugar high, sprinkles all over

my mom's kitchen, in wearing lipstick

for the first time in a while.

i forgot how good my lips can lay

when they're not spouting violence.

have you ever had a craving so bad

it weighed in your bones? the pressure

sits deeper each time he looks at me, or

when i hear the beginning guitar of

kiss me by sixpence none the richer.

but when it happens, i close my eyes,

i turn the music into blue fog,

and imagine it flowing into my pours,

clearing out all this wanting and wanting

and wanting. and somewhere between

the milky twilight and the long drive home,

the exhale is found here, and it's

temporary, but isn't everything?
