Under/overrated ships? 🔥

Well, there is one ship in particular that’s highly overrated, but my opinion on that isn’t unpopular at all....

Sebastian x anyone. He’s shipped with a lot of characters, and many of those ships are popular. However, most of those ships are toxic right off the bat, because they are all about abuse and manipulation. Any ship he’s in that isn’t manipulative or abusive is too far into AU territory for me to really contemplate.

I also think Grelliam is a bit overrated. So is Cielizzie, regardless of which Ciel you are talking about. I mention these two because they are popular ships that don’t cause too much discourse. But I still don’t support the ships. They seem to work out well enough in AU scenarios, but they would bomb in canon. Cielizzie wouldn’t be too bad in canon... if it weren’t for the fact our earl is supposed to die. And real Ciel is already dead, so....

Cielois is still somewhat popular, but for me it is an absolute nonstarter. I cannot fathom shipping s2-specific characters with manga canon characters. Anything involving an s2-specific character is automatically AU territory, to me. And considering the abuses each boy suffered, and how it’s affected each of them? Toxic.

Underrated ships, for me, would include:

Undertaker x Cloudia/Claudia, because I think it will eventually become canon. The ship has some support but not nearly enough.

Bard x Mey-Rin. Again, it has some support, but not much... as far as I can tell. There is a large age gap, but they are both adults. I think they would be kind, generous, protective, and loyal.

Lizzie x Charles Phipps. There is an age gap (though Phipps is younger than Grey), but of course Lizzie wouldn’t marry anyone until she was old enough. I can see the two of them eventually falling head over heals for each other, as their interests and strengths are very similar; Phipps is just more stoic, while Lizzie tends to be more openly emotional. They would be fiercely loyal to each other, and they would both want for everything to be “cute”.

Edward x Paula. In this case, I’m pretty sure Paula is older than Edward, but the age gap shouldn’t be too big. I can see them uniting because of whom they both hold so dear: Lizzie. Edward could only fall for someone who appreciates his sister as much as he does, right? There has been no mention of Edward being betrothed to anyone, so I hope he’s being allowed to marry for love and choose his own wife. I’m not sure what his parents would initially think about him choosing someone who is a servant, let alone one in their own household, but I think they would come around to the idea... probably accepted first by Alexis, since he’s such a big softy.
