"Sing to me," Anxiety said as he flapped his hoodie sleeves, plopping down on Deceit's bed across from the older side.

"Of course." Deceit smiled and Anxiety laid down, his head on the other's lap. He was only 7 at the time, while Deceit was 18.

Anxiety sighed heavily, knocking on Deceit's door.

"Dee?"

"Definitely don't come in." Anxiety smiled slightly, but it faded quickly. He opened the door, stepping inside and shutting it behind him. Deceit lounged in his bed in silk pajamas, black with yellow trim. "What can I-"

"Sing to me?" Anxiety blurted, his cheeks going red when he realized he interrupted Deceit. The 16 year old toed at the floor, glancing away.

Deceit cocked his head, smiling softly.

"Of course, Anx."

"Dee," Anxiety clung to Deceit, suddenly feeling small despite being an adult, "Dee, they- they hate me- I-"

"Anx," Deceit ran his hand through Anxiety's hair like he had a million times before, soft and understanding and everything he needed right now, "calm down. Maybe they do, but I don't. Remus doesn't either. Alright?"

"...alright," Anxiety agreed, taking a deep breath, "sing to me?" Deceit smiled, blissfully unaware of the fact that this would be the last time he'd be asked to do this.

"Of course."

Deceit fixed his hat, bracing himself before stepping into the room.

"Hello Anxiety."

"Virgil, actually."

Oh.

"Ah. You told them your name before me?" He asked, a bit of his hurt seeping into his tone.

"Duh." Virgil looked annoyed with him- no, more than that. He looked angry, like he wanted him gone. Deceit knew their fight was bad, and that he'd...left them, but... "Do you want something or could you do me a favor and leave?"

Deceit blinked, heart aching.

"...of course."

Scarf|Deceitmber Day 3

Ships: Past Anxceit

“Here,” Anxiety lifted one of his shy smiles, stretching his arm out. Dangling from his hand was a hand-knit, yellow scarf with black snowflake designs on it. “Since you’re always so cold.”

Deceit carefully took it from him, wrapping it around his neck and shoulders. It smelled like Anxiety, like s’mores and campfires, like familiarity, like comfort--like home.

“It won’t help much, y’know,” he snorted, as if the gift didn't mean the world to him, “since I don’t produce a lot of body heat.”

“I could take it back if you don’t like it, then, if you wanna be an ass about it.”

“No!” Anxiety snickered at his reaction. “No, it’s mine now.” Deceit said quickly burying the lower half of his face in the soft fabric, his forked tongue darting out to smell more of it.

“Jeez, okay.” Anxiety fidgeted with his hoodie strings, rocking back and forth from his heels to the balls of his feet, the rubber of his sneakers squeaking against the floor.

“Wanna go watch a movie?”

“Only if it’s Nightmare Before Christmas.”

“Duh, what else would it be?” Deceit scoffed, voice muffled by the yellow fabric wrapped around him.

“Then yeah, let’s go, you dork.” Anxiety smiled again, and it made Deceit feel so much warmer than a scarf ever could.

The tears running down his face certainly didn’t help to warm him, the cold air biting at his exposed skin. Deceit buried his face in the scarf, his tears wetting the fabric slightly. The damp, rough texture hurt, but no more than the memories the gift brought back. After so many years of the use, the fabric had lost it’s softness and the color of it had dulled to a pale yellow and dark gray, and it no longer smelled so wonderful.

His stomach twisted.

Anx would never let him that close by choice, never again.

He wanted to puke.

It was cold. He was alone.

Anxiety had left him.

Movie Night|Deceitmber Day 5

Deceit paced back and forth, tugging his silky yellow gloves off and throwing them at the brown.

What did it matter anymore?

The others didn't care about him.

They didn't even respect him.

They stole his things and used them as props for their movie ni- their shenanigans!

He turned on his heel, kicking the wall.

"Ow!" He jumped up on one foot, holding his other in his hands.

Maybe that wasn't the smartest thing to do…

"Deceit-?"

He froze and almost fell over, quickly putting his foot down even though it was throbbing in dull pain.

"Roman?" He blinked, quickly grabbing his gloves and shoving them back on.

What did that thief want?

"Hey, Dee. Can I come in?"

"...I suppose." He pressed his fingertips together, composing himself as Roman opened the door. "What do you want?" He said coldly.

"I'm sorry! I was going to ask first but you were sleeping. Also, you left this in my room when you were-"

Deceit snatched the tiny snake plush out of Roman's hands, cheeks red.

"Okay! I get it!" He hissed. "I- alright, I forgive you. Stop talking, alright? Next time you wanna 'borrow' my hat, wake me up and ask, you dumb ass."

"Yes! I'm still gonna make it up to you." Roman insisted, grinning. "...movie night?"

"Little Shop of Horrors."

"I figured."

“How are you even drinking that?” Deceit hissed as Remy sipped an iced coffee.

“What do you mean, hun?”

“It’s freezing here, Rem!” Deceit rubbed his arms with his gloved hands. “And you’re drinking an iced drink!”

“Yeah, I'm gay. Also, I’m not a coward.” Remy teased in response.

He took a long, loud sip.

"Pussy."

"Hey!" Deceit scowled, smacking Remy's arm lightly and pouting.

Remy smirked, kissing the forehead of his short boyfriend.

"They're right--short people are short tempered." He winked. Deceit narrowed his eyes.

"I'll choke you."

"You can't reach."

"I'll get a fucking stool, Rem."

"Girl, I 100% believe you." Remy snickered, leaning back slightly and going back to drinking his iced drink as his boyfriend whined and pouted next to him.

Snow|Deceitmber Day 1

"Fuck," Deceit hissed, hating how he was able to see his breath float up into the air, "fuck, its so god damn cold." His pants were stiff, capelet pulled tight around him. It only barely helped warm him, as he only produced a little bit of his own body heat.

The scaly side of his face had long since gone numb and he was so, so tired.

Maybe he should just take a quick nap...rest his eyes a bit…

His eyelids drooped, shoulders slumping a bit as snow somehow got into his shoes.

Yes, just a small nap…

"Dee?" There was the sound of crunching snow, then Deceit was suddenly being scooped up--when had he hit the ground?--by warm, strong arms. "Dee? Don't- don't go to sleep. Please."

"Okay," he murmured tiredly, although he couldn't bring himself to open his eyes, "but m'so tired…"

"I know, but please don't go to sleep. We'll get you someplace warm, okay? Someplace out of the snow. Even if we have to go to the light sides."

"With Anx?"

"Yes, with Anxiety." Remus took his hat, shaking the snow off before placing it back on his head, trudging through the snow, ignoring how he shivered and instead focusing on keeping Deceit warm. They were almost there.

He kicked the door open, completely ignoring how Patton squealed in surprise.

"Deceit needs help! He's been out in the snow too long!" Remus said, lying Deceit on the couch. Roman noted it was the most panicked he'd ever heard his brother, before the reality of the situation hit him.

"Patton, go get Lo!" He said, then turned to Remus. "He'll be fine, Rem."

"Remus?" Deceit held up the dead rat by its tail, scrunching up his nose. "Have you been leaving these type of things around…?"

"Yeah!" Remus grinned, tilting his head. "Don't you like them?"

"What?"

"They're gifts!" Oh. "Duh. I thought you knew."

"I...did not." Deceit admitted, side eyeing the rat. "Ah...thank you."

"Mhm!" Remus beamed, blowing his hair out of his eyes.

"Maybe try gifts that's won't, uh, stink?" Deceit suggested, contemplating how best to dispose of the rat without Remus knowing.

"Oh." Remus seemed to consider it. "Throw that one over there!"

"Why?" Deceit questioned.

"I'm gonna step my game up!"

"Please don't,"

"Too late!" Remus was already standing, taking Deceit's 'gift' and tossing it into the pile.

"Ah." Deceit shook his head with an amused look in his eyes despite the exasperated expression he wore. "...thanks, Re."

"You can't ask me for hot chocolate and then refuse to let me leave the bed." Virgil said, raising an eyebrow at Dee, who was wearing his hoodie and clinging to him.

"That's irrelevant."

"No, it isn't." Virgil snorted, pushing Deceit's hands lightly. "C'mon, loser, let go."

"You're stupid." Deceit whined, but gave in and let go of his boyfriend.

"Love you, too." He chuckled, getting up off the bed. “With marshmallows?”

“Of fucking course I want marshmallows, Vee.” Deceit scoffed. Virgil laughed, flicking his forehead.

“Shut up. I’ll be back in a bit.”

“You better be.” Virgil rolled his eyes, slipping out of the room. He hummed as he made his way down the hall, retrieving two hot chocolate packets from the cabinet near the fridge. He blew his bangs out of his eyes.

This wasn’t uncommon for snowy weather or particularly chilly days. According to Logan, snakes didn’t produce their own body heat.

Not that Virgil really minded.

It gave him an excuse to cuddle his small, scaly boyfriend. Plus, he was cute when he got all clingy.

Once he finished making the hot beverages, he carried the two mugs back to his room, finding Deceit swaddled in his Nightmare Before Christmas comforter that Patton gave him as a birthday present.

“Hey, Dee.”

"Admit it!" Patton insisted. "Admit you're sweet!" He blew another raspberry onto his boyfriend's stomach.

"I'm- I'm no-" Deceit squirmed, giving in. "Okay, okay, I'm sweet!" Patton relented, moving away to kiss Deceit's nose.

"Love you."

"You're cruel and ruthless." Deceit hissed breathlessly. "Love you, too, sugar cookie." He said, sitting up and pushing his shirt back down with a playful glare.

"Cruel? No way!"

"Yes way!" Deceit argued. Patton huffed, pouting and resting his head on Dee's chest.

"Take it back."

"Nope." Deceit snickered, kissing Patton's hair. "You're a cruel, cruel man, my love."

"Dee!"

"Alright, alright." Deceit held his hands up. "I take it back."

"Hmph." Patton leaned up, kissing Deceit short and sweet. "Meanie."

"What? You can insult me but I can't?" Deceit scoffed, sounding offended.

"Well, I-"

"This is homophobia." He announced. Patton stared at him.

"...babe?"

"Yes?"

"We are in a gay relationship, Dandelion." Patton informed him.
