How to Lose Friends Updated Tech
Combo Refresher!
Here’s a little refresher on the combo so we can set a baseline on how these interactions work. Start at the beginning of your upkeep with Hell’s Caretaker on the battlefield, either Deceiver Exarch or Pestermite in your graveyard with the other one on the battlefield. For this example we’ll assume Exarch is on the field and Pestermite is in the yard. Tap Caretaker and sacrifice Exarch to it, targeting the Pestermite. This will bring Pestermite back from the yard to the battlefield and allow you to untap Caretaker with its ETB. Now repeat the process by sacrificing Pestermite to Caretaker, bringing back your Exarch and once again untapping Caretaker. You now have a near infinite loop! Enjoy and let’s see what new toys I discovered!
Bouncy Boi
One card I overlooked from a previous set that can be a back up untap piece is Bounding Krasis. If you’re running Sultai colors, definitely not a bad card to run along side your combo. Redundancy is good in a singleton format like Commander/EDH.
Infini-Bats!
With the release of M19, I was fascinated by Desecrated Tomb and the idea of finding a way to break this card. Oh boy did I come across a doozie! With Desecrated Tomb and your combo in place, every time you sacrifice an untap creature and bring back it’s counterpart from the graveyard to the field, you will trigger Tomb and get a 1/1 black bat with flying! Just cycle thru the combo a few hundred times to block out the night sky with your flying army of darkness.
Mill Boi
Following the same concept of creatures leaving the graveyard, Extractor Demon works with your untap creatures leaving the battlefield. Everytime you sacrifice a creature to the Caretaker, you’ll trigger the Demon’s leave the battlefield effect and mill an opponent (or yourself if you want) for two cards. Grindy, yes, but it can insta-kill a whole table none the less! This effect can also be modified for infinite burn with Outpost Siege or Vela the Night-Clad.
Sorry for the absence my darling, it’s been a rough few months for me with moving and everything that has been going on. I’m even using that good ole McDonald’s free wifi to make this post and try to revive my tumblr until I get my own wifi again. So bear with me! I adore you all my wonderful followers and let’s see what we can break next with these new M19 cards.
So keep your kettles hot and your home brews fresh my pretties! Auntie Home-Brewd is back in town!! Let’s see what concoctions we can think up together :)
My opponent taps a Deceiver Exarch enchanted with Splinter Twin to put a token on the battlefield. I respond by Unsummoning his Exarch. Does the token still enter as a copy of the, now nonexistent, Exarch & does it have the Twin ability?
Yes, the token still enters the battlefield as a copy of Exarch as it last existed on the battlefield, but it won’t have the Splinter Twin ability since that’s not a copiable characteristic of the card. Abilities granted to permanents by other cards are almost never copied when you make a copy of that permanent.
oh i didn’t see you there
Welcome to MtG Supreme!
This is going to be a blog about all things Magic: the Gathering that interest me and what kinds of things I'm doing in the MtG world.
Including, but certainly not related to:
Standard (My deck, building decks, trends/results)
EDH
Legacy (just beginning to dip my toes into this ocean, and I chose Reanimator!)
and basically anything else I feel like posting about this game that I've come to love.
Since I want the first post to get some attention, I'm going to take this opportunity to re-post a comic (from my personal tumblr) that I drew for my 7th grade reading students of an example of how to make your own comic:
Oh Splinter Twin, how I miss you so...
