🌿 Think you don’t have time, space, or energy to grow a garden that actually feeds you?
This video is your reminder that growing real food is possible—even when life is full. I’m not a full-time gardener. I work a full-time job, I have family responsibilities, and I’m managing this deck garden in the margins of my day—early mornings, late evenings, and weekends. And yet, I’m growing over $300 worth of food in just 40 square feet using vertical planters. No acreage. No raised beds. No yard. Just intention, smart tools, and steady commitment.
🌱 In this video, I’ll show you:
-Exactly what I’m harvesting from my small-space garden right now (late spring)
-How I turn those harvests into useful, everyday products—like meal starters, infused oils, herb butters, and even body care items
-Why vertical gardening with a GreenStalk is a game-changer for space-saving, low-maintenance abundance
-What this lifestyle really looks like when you're growing with one foot in the garden and the other in real life
Whether you're gardening on a balcony, a patio, or a tiny backyard, I’m here to show you that you don’t need more land—you need a better system. And it starts right here.
One of my Kings Cucumbers! I was so impressed! Look at that big girl! Wowza!
Nelly has decided she also likes cucumbers and is probably wondering if she will also get a taste!
Sorry, Nel! This one was for me.

Spring bulbs planted and garden tidied for fall. What’s with the chicken wire? Squirrels.
My rhododendron is flowering! It didn’t flower at all last year and I was contemplating taking it out and putting something else there but it decided to perk up! There was a snowball bush (a viburnum) next to it that has been absolutely decimated by viburnum beetles two years in a row so this morning I took the time to cut it down and dig it out. I don’t know what I’ll plant to replace it. A lilac? A lavender? Ultimately I want to take out the grass and have a cottage garden so I’m going to spend some time thinking about it.
Meanwhile, upstairs on the deck I have repurposed nearly all the 5 gallon bags we grew tomatoes in last year and planted them with herbs and perennials (that in due course can go into the cottage garden). My succulent planters from last year are still going strong too!

Grow bags are growing!
From seeds I have started beans, kale, beets, spinach, carrtots, lettuce, Italian basil, tulsi, broccoli, and cherry, suix and beefsteak tomatoes. My neighbors have added swiss chard, eggplant, jalapeño and bell peppers, cantaloupe, snow peas and a different type of bean! We are looking forward to so much garden produce this year!
I witnessed a tiny turf war today. These two were squaring off, and a few seconds after I took the first shot, the bigger one lunged at the smaller one, who scampered away. I never thought before about how cool gardening would be at this micro level.
