I used to feel overwhelmed by the little things. You know, the dishes in the sink. That shirt draped over the chair. The unread emails piling up like digital dust.

None of it felt huge, but together? It was mental noise I couldn’t escape.

Then I heard about something so simple it felt… silly. It’s called the One-Minute Rule.

What Is the One-Minute Rule?

Coined by author Gretchen Rubin, the rule is this: If a task takes less than one minute, do it immediately.

Not later. Not when you “have time.” Just right now, because it’s quick.

How It Changed My Day

I didn’t expect much, but I started trying it out:

Tossing the empty coffee pod right away

Hanging up my towel instead of tossing it on the floor

Deleting junk emails as they arrived

Putting my shoes back in the closet (instead of leaving a shoe graveyard)

And within a few days, something strange happened: My space looked better. My brain felt better. I wasn’t “decluttering”, things just didn’t pile up anymore.

#storytime So a lot of people wonder how come I have been doing this(organising) for so long and noone knows me. Well, for the longest time, I treated this gift as a hobby. Used it to help family and friends and even myself. Anytime , I got bored or was bothered about something, I would organise. My roommates back in school could sometimes tell my mood from my organising, because I would just plug my ears, play music and tidy and declutter and organise till i was satisfied with the results. It was my way of dealing with stress I guess...People around me started seeing this and would ask for my help to organise their kitchen/closets/pantry/store etc. Thonking back now, I must have been a little annoying because I would enter someone's house and once I see its untidy, without thinking twice about it, i would start tidying up. I didn't even realise that most people appreciated it. That doesn't mean I didn't piss off quite a number of people. I learnt to wait until people asked before I offered my services.
