my therapist told me something the other day that she said might go against everything we are thought as a society, but we don’t have to be kind to everybody all the time. we do however have to be kind to ourselves. and that means sometimes not helping others because it puts us at risk and that’s ok. even if we feel like, if we were in that situation, we would have liked someone to help us or save us, it’s ok to not do it at the expense of ourselves.
