We are well into the making of the first full-length dedwax album
Writing began for this record in earnest, in the hills above Hollywood Blvd.
In the beginning of December, Jay flew in from DC and started tracking ideas with some instruments that lived in the house they were looking after. They brought a mic and downloaded an open source DAW.
The ideas were rough, barely any words to them. Jay just hummed when, and how, they thought a line should go.
Mahrya charted lines and formed stories from the bits of phrases in their notes.
The songs began taking shape.
They hiked along favorite trails, drove up the coast and ate at new familiar destinations
Life felt better than it had in years. Low looming LA Winter clouds would pass over in the mornings and the sun made the afternoons thirsty for a swim.
It was almost Heaven. They weren’t dead yet.
