Congratulations to the Touden Party for matching PB and WR in the dungeon this week. The reset after party wipe was super tough but with a roster change we got back there quick. Good job on the grind!

So there's a thing going on in the Trackmania community. There's a ridiculously difficult map (track) and a cash prize for the first people that finish it. Top players, at this point, have been playing for 120 hours over 12 (13?) days, and they're only 60% finished.

And I'm kind of worried? That they'll burn out by the time it's done? And it will be really bad for their livelihoods and mental health and probably also for the community?

I mean, this is a community famous for grinding a single map for hundreds of hours trying to do it faster than anyone else, so maybe it's fine. But I don't know.

This one time trial racing game, Trackmania, has had a competition going on the last week or so that is still going on.

A group of mappers have created a towering monstrosity of a "racecourse" called Deep Dip 2, where the goal is to get to the top of the tower by besting a nearly endless array of loops, jumps, and slides. There is no real "map", the drivers have to figure out how to climb the tower themselves.

There is a 15'000 euro prize pool for the first 3 players to defeat it. So far the world record is 11.5 floors up out of 16 (?)

Why am I posting about it?

Because Trackmania is a predominantly single player game where you try to get the gold time on a vast collection of tracks. Its not supposed to be played like this, but here we are. Playing Getting Over It in a racing game.

And it is SO engaging to watch
