alright, so. as of the end of volume 1, i understand *why* adachi and shimamura is moving so slowly, but it Really feels like some more progress shouldve been made by now!
it’s obviously a story built around the idea of sequels; it just doesn’t even necessarily seem like it needs any? what we’ve ended up at by the end of this first light novel can’t be that significant, because then the sole origin of dramatic tension of the story would be gone.
the problem is that that specific source of dramatic tension is extremely basic, which means if it isn’t resolved it’ll lose its appeal quickly. the only other intrigue in the plot is maybe one of the worst conflicts i could ever feasibly conceive, so. it’s an odd mix. how are there nine of these.
it’s important for people to accept that sometimes it helps a story to stay a bit farther away from reality, even (maybe especially) if you’re trying to be grounded
