i can't even articulate how satisfying it was to watch anakin's eyes go from sith yellow to innocent baby blue with a blink. there's something so sexy about communicating the status of someone's humanity through their eyes, windows to the soul such as they are. we find so much information in the gaze of another, there's nothing better than giving unnatural eyes to someone who is out of control and acting like a predator. like the transition from vader melting into anakin was beautifully performed by hayden, seeing the vicious intensity of his expression wiped clean with only gentleness left behind. so much of his performance has always been in his general physicality, his acting with his whole body, but george also casts for people who can yell with just their face, communicate volumes with just their expression, just their eyes. if you look, his movies are full of shots where the eyes are highlighted, and filoni picked up that tradition well here. vader's yellow, bloodshot, ugly, angry eyes are so perfect for a sith, so dangerous (and sexy) with his furrowed brow and menacing stance, echoing the flickering red of his saber, but anakin is also an angel, so beautiful with the cool tone his natural eyes, graceful and gentle, in the radiating blue light of his jedi blade. it is his duality with his heated, vicious demonic self is what really makes him a character of all time lol and it's all in the eyes man, it's all in the eyes.
