š“š for both Desa and Iryna >:] I want to peel them like onions
LMAO then onions they will be
š“ - What is a trait your OC has that those around them don't see very often? Is it seen by a rare few or completely overlooked?
For Desa: Though Desa's faith is no secret, in the beginning of her story, the extent of it is not something that anyone really recognizes. She has a reputation as a Feirenist, which is notable - it's a rare trait for someone of her profession, as assassination generally goes against Aei Deive's law. But she serves the lady Siell, who is a sun-touched member of the divine court. The sun-touched are largely exempt from the law, and by extension, so are the people that do their bidding. Desa does nothing without Siell's approval. She really and truly would do anything for the gods, for Aei Deive, and for the sun-touched. Her faith guides her every action.
For Iryna: She doesn't let anyone completely see it (until she gets close with Desa, anyway), but Iryna thinks of herself as separate from Aei Deive. It's the only way she's found to maintain vigilance in her role, as it helps her to set aside her fatigue and emotions. She spends more time playing the part of Aei Deive than she does Iryna, because she believes that Aei Deive is more valuable. Part of her wishes she could get rid of Iryna entirely, and just be Aei Deive. But she also knows that the human in her is the reason she's able to stay tethered to the world. Fun fact! This drawing is based on a part of her story where she forgets what it is to be human!
š - What is a trait your OC hides about themself from others? Do they refuse to acknowledge it or begrudgingly accept it?
For Desa: I answered this in another ask right here <3
For Iryna: Iryna is really, really tired. She works hard, and though she doesn't resent that effort, it does take a toll on her. For her first few years on the Sun Throne, she's able to cope with the fatigue by dwelling on good memories and remembering who she was raised to be. But as time wears down on her, and she continues to refuse to rest, it becomes more and more difficult to remain in touch with herself and her humanity. She's always been big on journaling, and the progression of the things she writes is kind of a chronicle of how the exhaustion has gotten to her. I mentioned above that she forgets her humanity entirely at one point - the months leading up to that, her journal entries are entirely devoid of anything about herself or her feelings, aside from writing that she knows she's failing, that she's not doing enough. When she forgets herself completely, though, it serves as something of a turning point for her. With Desa's help, she's able to recognize that she can't face everything alone.
I also think it's worth mentioning here that Iryna spends a lot of time wishing that things were easier. But she never wishes for her situation to be different - instead, she wants to change herself in such a way that she would be better equipped to handle it all. She always has this sense that she's not doing enough, and it eats at her.
I hope that we got down deep enough for you with this one lol, i feel like I'm peeling them apart and I'm the one who made them š ty as always for the ask its so fun to answer these
