just cos u enjoy being around someone/u have platonic feelings for them doesn't mean u can call them ur friend. it feels like there is no prior consent involved?
like can u imagine if an alloromantic just started calling someone their romantic partner/bf/gf without prior discussion of initiating a romantic relationship first? they just called them their partner cos they had a crush on them? it'd be weird n creepy.
reminder that wanting/needing to socialize does not make u any less aplatonic.
socialization /= platonicism
usually, people need to socialize. oxytocin (a neurotransmitter – responsible for formation of positive or negative social bonds n the associated emotions that come w either bond) is really important to our mental health. if we have positive social interactions, we feel more secure around people in general. this essentially can lower social anxiety, reduce depression n by proxy increase happiness.
this does not equate to platonicism. this does not equate to wanting, having or needing friends.
here are a few examples of how socialization may present in aplatonics:
u could be an alloromantic n socialize w ur romantic partner(s)
u could socialize in indirect ways like posting on social media or people watching
u could socialize w people directly for a specific purpose other than friendship (e.g. u want to infodump, u need a multiple players for a video game)
u could be allofamilial n socialize w ur family members
u could socialize w people in a public space (e.g. a discord server based on an interest u have, ur place of work, small talk w a cashier at the store)
i miss g1 clawdeennnn :(( i rlly like a lot of the g3 reboots of all the characters (especially twyla n frankie) but they did clawdeen so dirtyyy.. i loved her sassy girlboss attitude n her boston accent rlly adds to that vibe. what an icon /gen
