Air separators and degassers are highly used devices in industries. Basically, an air separator or a degasser is a device that is in-line which removes the micro bubbles or the air flowing with the fluid. The systems of liquid that are closed having the entrained air or gas would drain off with the liquid. It has various disadvantages as well such as decrease in the capacity of pump; the hydraulic hammer’s risk might increase and would give inaccurate results of measurement. We get to build!!

FInally!! The time has come! Most of the wood has dried so we decided to start building some of the smaller Stands/Frames. Once we had some built we had to figure out where to put them. E and M worked hand in hand glueing and drilling the Fish Tank Stand and Degasser Stand. That Fish Tank Stand was incredibly problematic; the pieces should have fit like a perfect glove however they did not. Slowly but surely we got the whole thing together and by a miracle it was pretty darn level too.

Making Silicone Molds

Hi, we have been experiment with RTV silicone with mixed results. Originally we talked with MPK Enterprises and he recommended his blue Firm 128. We tried making make shift molds, but the silicone leaked out of most variations. Once I had a flexible PCB populated, I tried to coat it using a mold. I made the mold by hand using InstaMorph plastic. This stuff is really easy to use, but it embeds to wood and vice versa to paper products easily. I learned that my hand molding skill is just not going to cut it. The mold was too thick and the circuit board too delicate for my imprecision.

I have talked to Smooth-On and they recommended silicone and urethane in lower Shore durometers. I bought several kits from their distributor The Engineer Guy. I'll be testing these new rubbers.

On top of that we now have a silicone degasser / urethane pressure curing tank. I haven't finished the mods yet, but it is based on a paint spray pressure pot. Some guy in the amazon reviews did similar. The mods are mostly putting in a vacuum gauge and vacuum capable hoses. I also got a 2 stage vacuum pump. 2 stages allow the vacuum to go much lower and 6CFM should be plenty. The CPS pump seemed reasonable in price. According to the reviews, they can leak oil if defective.
