Remind me love, who is chasing Loke and Jela in fallout?

That would be Iain in New Vegas.

Recap on her history so you know why she was so pissed and did what she did: Iain (55, human) was an NCR veteran ranger. She was actually part of Ingvarr's (Lo and Jela's dad) group but he'd gone AWOL at night. That same night a massive group of raiders attacked the outpost looking for payback and all but Iain were killed.

She thought Ingvarr had been killed but he wasn't among the bodies and they all soon figured out that he'd gone AWOL. Iain blamed Ingvarr for the casualties that night since he'd been one of the other lookouts.

During the boys's stay in New Vegas: I wanna say like maybe three years since the boys were living in New Vegas was when shit started. One day in Goodsprings Jelani was out with his two boyfriends and were gonna grab some stuff to eat and drink at the bar. While at the bar Iain and a few of her friends walked in and both parties pretty much minded their own business until Iain looked at Jelani, really looked at him, more specifically his eyes and that's when shit hit the fan.

She kept pestering him about what was his dad's name and where he was from and prying into his background. Why? Jelani has Ingvarr's same eyes and while blue eyes are stupidly common Ingvarr's and Jelani's are freakishly pale making them stand out. Obviously Jelani didn't tell her anything and Iain's friends eventually got her to stop and they left but Iain had already put two and two together and was pissed off all over again. She became fixated on getting back at Ingvarr and she figured that if his kid was there so was he.

She did some digging and found out that Ingvarr had died several years ago and she felt slighted that she hadn't been the one who killed him so she figured his sons were the next best thing.

One day while at the Strip as the boys were on their way to get Uthorim they ran into Iain. Obviously Jelani had told Loke about the incident in Goodsprings and Loke knew Iain had been asking about them.

Lot of yelling, a lot of accusations from Iain, a hell of a lot of threats from Loke and in her rage Iain pulled a gun on the boys. Loke had pushed Jelani behind him to protect him but Jelani pushed Loke out of the way as Iain fired hitting Jelani on the right side.

Iain didn't wanna kill Jelani who was only 14 at the time but at the same time she didn't care. A Haakonsen was a Haakonsen to her. Jela was rushed to a doctor, where they had to remove his right kidney as it'd been damaged beyond repair due to the bullet. Once he was stable Loke went to the NCR and demanded that something be done about Iain.

The NCR pretty much told Loke that Iain was a decorated ranger and known throughout the NCR and even the president knew her by name. So she pretty much got a slap on the wrist for shooting a 14-year-old boy and Loke was told that they knew who their dad was and that the name Haakonsen didn't carry the same favorable outlook as Iain's name did.

To avoid shit the NCR stationed Iain outside of New Vegas though 3 years later she would be back much to Loke's anger. Both Jelani and Uthorim told him to drop it and let it go but Loke is Loke and he tracked her down and killed her and given their history the NCR put out a kill on sight order on both of the boys once Iain's body was found.

Probably way more info than you wanted lol. Boston is a whole different animal all together though, I've got an idea I've been working on for later which may take some time to coherently put together.

Do you usually think of the boys as human in fallout?

I do 'cause they are.

I'm not opposed to anything supernatural especially when the supernatural is all over the world and setting of Fallout though I'd rather keep 'em human in this particular AU.

I already have Loke and Trevor as werewolves in the Skyrim AU and Jelani as a vampire in that same AU so I'd keep 'em human in Fallout.

If I were to change my mind—let's face it, I'm fickle as fuck all—I'd have to check and see what that would entail.

Are there any rituals or traditions the boys take part in? <3

Yeah, there's a few.

Angelus and Jelani: Every single year after Val's birthday (it's usually celebrated as a Halloween party as well since he was born on the 31st) he and Jela go up to the roof with all the sweets, candy and a buttload of alcohol that's left over from the party and spend the rest of the night up there together. This has been a thing since they got together, it's sort of like recreating that first night where both admitted they were in love with each other. Sometimes they'll fall asleep on the roof and sometimes they'll stay up all night until sunrise and sleep off the candy and alcohol hangover.

Trevor and Angelus: Like I've mentioned before werewolves are very tied to nature, so about once a week Trevor and Angelus go into the wooded areas around Ashstone and in werewolf form spend the afternoon and night exploring and walking around the woods. It's really relaxing for them. Oh, and there's a yearly flower festival that they and all the other local werewolves LOVE to attend. Lot of times both of them come back home with a bunch of flowers and pants they got from the festival.

Loke and Jelani: Every few months, it's sorta random and dependent on how busy things are, Lo and Jela go on a mini road trip. It sorta started sometime after Jela tried to kill himself, Lo just got him and both drove off with no real destination in mind. Usually five days or so and it's just them, no distractions, no interference from anyone else. Just them.

Loke, Jelani, Sanaa, and Ingvarr: Lot of times the boys go back home to visit their parents their dad likes to go hiking and camping in the woods. It's not every single visit, kinda random, but it's just a fun activity the family does together.

Loke, Jelani, Ingvarr, and Jørgen: At least once a year the guys go hunting and fishing while out in the wooded areas. It's kind of a "boys/siblings night out" thing with the family.

Angelus and Aleksey: Every month they go out, from very early in the morning to night time both of them go out and spend the day eating out, shopping, and catching up. Grandad/grandson quality time.

Angelus, Ginger, and Jasmine: They do this little thing they call a spa day every three weeks or so. Val goes over to Ginger and Jasmine's place and all give themselves these little spa treatments, nails, hair what have you while watching movies and indulging in bloodypops (it's exactly what it sounds like).

Loke and Uthorim: For their anniversary both of them just go out for a week and spend time together, just them, no outside interference. Anywhere in the world. Like a romantic couple's getaway.

Trevor, Angelus, and Jelani: Sometimes Jela will join Trev and Val on their full moon hunts. When he does both usually break away from the pack and the three of them hunt down targets. Jela usually takes on either a smaller version of his divine form or a feral form and helps take down prey and occasionally indulges in some of the prey's blood (it's less unsettling than it sounds). In the morning the three of them clean up and go out for breakfast, mostly waffles with whatever else they want. If he feels like it Uth is more than welcome.

Most of the time they're all together, some years back when Lo and Jela lived together (before Jela and Val moved in together and before Lo met Uth) everyone just made their apartment "the meetup spot" and since then it's stayed that way so that's why everyone always ends up at Jela's and Val's place. It's like an unspoken tradition to just head there and hang out with the others. Soon as Uth joined the group he was part of that too and was included in everything he was comfortable with.

What makes them different, do they have different abilities depending on what clan they're associated with???

Werewolf clans (sometimes referred to as packs though some werewolves feel pack is a little too on the nose):

These started a long and I mean a long time ago in Scotland and the custom just spread like wildfire and is recognized all over the world. Not to de-mystify the clans or anything but werewolf clans are just groups of werewolf families (this can be either by blood, family or by marriage) that are led by an elder. It's usually the oldest female of the family. They're often sought after for guidance, advice and such, there's no "monarchy" to it.

Clans are usually really big, werewolves are highly social people and you'll often see that in the number of children they usually have. There's safety in numbers, and full moon hunts are more successful in larger groups. A werewolf needs to consume only one human heart per full moon so a werewolf that has already consumed a heart can help a family member that hasn't consumed a heart hunt a human down.

You can't just join a clan, these are built and based on trust and familiarity. The people within these clans are very tight with each other. Joining one is often through marriage, birth, adoption, and by becoming family (this last one is for found families). Sometimes the clans will have non-werewolves within them. Best examples are: Ayanna, Runar, Tristan, Soren, Viddar, Kyra, Krysa, Ferrin, Jelani, Loke, and Uthorim.

*Loke is there because he and Trevor have known each other for centuries and are close enough that they consider each other family. Also being Jelani's brother he gets in anyway. By being married to Loke Uthorim gets in as well as the kids.

The clans also have names. Each clan is named after the family name or in the case of mixed families and found families it's the name is the elder werewolf within the clan. Trevor is the elder werewolf within his clan so it named clan Ravencroft and in the case of Clan Ravencroft it's a clan composed of found, mixed, and blood family.

Vampire covens:

This is new but also old. Vampires tend to be more solitary people and stick to themselves. After slayers first appeared they found they were easy prey for large groups of slayers so they took one from werewolves and formed their own covens, called covens because they would usually find companionship with witches. There were sometimes two, three or four vampires in these covens and a lot of human witches. The witches would look after the vampires during the day and would find people for them to feed on and in turn the vampires would provide protection for the witches.

After a few centuries the custom sort of died down after Oracle intervened with slayer and knight activities. But, when the Court of Night was originally formed (1806) it brought vampire society closer and a lot of the older ranks wished to bring back covens though this time around they didn't integrate with witches, it was just vampires socializing with vampires. Of course this isn't something every vampire does, they're still very solitary people and most prefer to be on their own but those that wish to join covens can do so.

Each coven has their own rules and values and joining one is as simple as talking to members of a coven you wish to join and see if their rules and values align with your own, if you feel it's a match then you can speak with the leader and they'll fit you in once a vote takes place. This is usually helpful especially for very young vampires as they can learn and seek advice and wisdom from higher ranks and can learn a lot about vampire society and it's history as well as learn arcane abilities from experienced members.

No, the covens don't have names. Again, the concept is sort of new-ish so vampires are still figuring out a thing or two about it.

Hi hi!

I actually covered that in the third short but I'm in the process of re-writing it for better and more accurate info as well as I sincerely believe I could've done better. I rewrote the first one (my favorite one tbh) and am in the middle of working on the second one.

Loke's never had a problem with him having any boyfriends. Hell, in New Vegas he had two: AJ and Mahmud. However, because they had to flee from New Vegas due to the events that took place Jelani basically broke it off with both of them even though he didn't want to. He was aware they'd return for Uthorim once the heat died down and they'd all run off to wherever Uthorim wanted to go. Staying in New Vegas, for Loke and Jelani, was not an option anymore so he knew he'd never see his boyfriends again. Also the reason Loke didn't take Uthorim with him was because he didn't wanna put him in danger as the NCR were literally hunting them down. Basically shoot to kill.

So between leaving New Vegas and Boston Jelani was on his own and then met Angelus. After what happened to Jelani Loke felt that him having a romantic partner was not good a good idea for a while especially given the degree of trauma he still had because of the assault. He was kind of against it and knowing that Angelus was an ex-raider made him all the more neurotic. However, Angelus was also protective of Jelani so you had two very stubborn, very overprotective and very opinionated men trying to protect Jelani from the other.

Loke was obviously not harming Jelani but Angelus felt that Loke himself had some issues, mostly brought on by guilt, that he needed to work out. He also thought that putting Jelani into this little box where he could keep him safe from anything and everything was gonna do more harm than good. Loke on the other hand thought that Angelus wouldn't understand how to handle Jelani's traumas and would worsen them. He was also not a fan of the very noticeable age gap between them.

Eventually both sat down and sorta talked it out and both realized they just wanted what was best for Jelani and both understood that both brought a different sense of peace to him that helped him. Angelus also blatantly told Loke that he needed to let Jelani make his own choices and to trust him instead of making his choices for him and hiding him away where nothing could ever happen to him. He also very cheekily told Loke that he had his own issues he needed to work out too. Let's be brutally honest here, Loke blames himself for letting that shit happen to Jelani. He will choke on that guilt until the day he dies but like other people have told him before, that guilt will only fester and get in the way. They do end up getting along really well and Loke learns to trust Angelus with his brother.

Do any of the boys now sign language?

I saw you mention Jelani having selective mutism and it popped into my head. Even if its simple customized version I can see Jela using it when talking just isnt the mood <3

Yeah, Trevor does! He learned it as a sort of way to remember his little brother, he was mute since birth.

He's actually offered to teach the others how to use ASL because it's useful and for those moments where Jela goes mute. Loke and Angelus were super about it since it'll make communicating with him easier and most importantly he won't be forced to talk in case of an emergency.

Not that any of them force him to, gods, no. Forcing Jelani to talk when he goes mute makes things worse for him, let's him know that person isn't safe and he won't trust that person.

Before being taught ASL Lo and Jela would use gestures and some sounds to communicate between each other, Lo acting as a translator when others were involved. Out of the bunch Lo's the one that understands all the gestures and even the sounds he makes when he goes mute.

As they've learned ASL the others can understand more and more and it makes the whole thing a lot safer for Jelani.

Your writing is so immersive, darling! It's what introduced us and allowed us to become so close! It draws me in. It has so many nooks and crannies that I want to explore! I would say my love for your writing is equal to my love for Fallout, I would make so many OCs (and plan to) in Oracle!

Oh my gods the post about the ghost and pumpkin mugs gave me such fun idea!!

Loke and Jelani dressing up as each other for Halloween!! Hair dyed and everything!!! So cute!!!

Listen! I read this while I was in the parking lot yesterday and just had A MOMENT about this ask because my gods! I wanna talk some nonsense about this! You just opened the flood gates!

Okay, so like, they've made and played as each other in games that have CC and have a blast doing so.

But aside from that they also they imitate—or better said—they are so intertwined with each other and are so in sync with one another that they practically move and sound and talk almost identically to one another.

There was this bit I wrote some time ago where Jela was going somewhere and in order to move about safely (this was back in the early 1700s, that spell was used a lot during between early 1600s to all the way up to the early 1990s and while not as widely used as then it''s still used today for security reasons) without an escort or as Loke would say his security detail which consisted of Loke himself armed to the teeth lol he used a glamour spell. He didn't change anything about himself but other people saw someone completely different and it was just a semi copy of Loke except except for the eye color but that's because eye color can't be change at all so imagine Loke but with Jelani's pale blue eyes.

However, I never really thought of both going as each other for like Halloween. That DOES sound so freaking cute! LOL Angelus using makeup to make a bunch of little freckles on Jela's face and Lo getting some blue eye contacts.
