way back in december i got an ask claiming that DeKnight said on twitter Achillia is not a lesbian. eventually my curiosity got the better of me and i broke my no twitter policy to see if i could find the tweet in question, and here it is:

many of us had interpreted her as such based on the line in episode five, "There are none but men in this house, and you but stand the least offensive" (or, as @tokoyamisstuff put it, "I may die tomorrow and I'm denied women, so a kind man is better than nothing"). apparently that was not the intended meaning of the line—perhaps something got a bit lost in the sparty speak and she meant, "i'm surrounded by dudes, i could take my pick, i'm just choosing you because you're the only one who isn't terrible." (worth noting she says this with a playfully sarcastic grin.)
now, this doesn't foreclose the possibility of her being bi/pan or ever expressing desire for women. (also, standard disclaimer that all of these labels are modern inventions and not how these characters would understand themselves; i'm simply using them as shorthand.) if DeKnight wishes he'd written her that way, well, he's in charge & can change course whenever he likes! that said, season two is apparently already written, so i think it's fair to surmise we won't be seeing her in an F/F pairing anytime soon.
(also, regular tumblr disclaimer that showrunners lie, PR is not showrunning, etc., although i think DeKnight is generally quite open & candid; he's more likely to evade a question to avoid spoiling something than outright lie, for instance.)
all of that said, as of now the lesbian/bi/pan readings are still entirely compatible with the text, if you choose to go with that interpretation of the line in episode five—she's a lesbian if you damn well want her to be! just putting this here as a note of caution & in the spirit of tempering expectations.
