Who ever knew Dill Pickle tacos were a thing? And who'd have thought they're actually really good! Nom nom nom
Del Taco. 1970s.
Did my MRI that was pushed 2 weeks back because of work!!! Getting myself Del Taco ad a TREAT😭🙏🌮🌯
Edgar & Ellen Del Taco Promotion
I'm a big fan of Edgar & Ellen. I watched the cartoon back when it was airing and I also loved reading the books. They have a very endearing, gothic charm not unlike A Series of Unfortunate Events.
I remember the sixth book, Nod's Limbs, having a big display set up in my school's library when it was released. I also remember seeing branding for the show in Target around the Halloween season around the late 2000s. With that said, it's surprising and a little sad how the series has fallen into obscurity now.
I've since taken to collecting any sort of memorabilia from the series that I can get my hands on. I own all the books, the Mischief and Mayhem board game, and even a full page magazine ad for the cartoon. One thing that always mystified me though, the piece of merch that I've been on the hunt for, is anything related to this alleged collaboration the series had with Del Taco.
According to the internet, Del Taco ran an Edgar & Ellen promotion back in 2008. Info about this is very, very scarce. Often it's just a sentence saying that this was a thing that happened. But there are no pictures or any sort of further information about it.
Fast forward to two weeks ago. I'll often randomly search eBay for Edgar & Ellen stuff to see if anything new pops into the search results. On May 2, I couldn't believe it. I finally found some physical evidence of the Del Taco promotion. An Edgar & Ellen doorknob hanger! For only $11 USD too! I don't think the seller realized what a rare find they had, but their loss is my gain.
People of Tumblr, behold what is likely (as far as I can tell) the only photographic evidence of a piece of merch from Del Taco's 2008 Edgar & Ellen promotion.
Needless to say, this is an incredible addition to my collection. I'm very glad to share this with all of you. I wonder what sort of other toys or knick knacks were available during this promo. Hopefully more info will come to light in the future.
