Final Fantasy XIII is a game i actually enjoyed despite having many... issues. Like nowadays i'd say i enjoy it more as a story than as a game and i'd kind of want to replay it if it came out in HD and it had those good cheats Square puts in their HD rerelases most of the time.

But like there's 3 things i'd say really make this game taste more sour than sweet for me:

1) I can't help but feel like they only written the main characters and everybody else is just a poorly painted set dressing. Like this game has a lot of cool villains on paper that become boring cardboard cutouts for you to fight in practice. Jihl Nabaat for example could've been an iconic Final Fantasy villainess if they hadn't axed her at the end of disc 2 aka when the plot actually starts rolling. Even Disley/Barthandelus could've been a great main villain but honestly he's all style and no substance.

2) Related but they missed BIG opportunities not giving us a Jihl Nabaat and a human!Disley boss fight. Again Jihl had a lot going for her and then we don't even have te opportunity to duck it out with her. Disley immediately becoming Barthandelus was a moment and a twist but idk i wish we could've had a fight with him as Primarch first.

3) Snow Villiers. Delete him. Replace him with anything and anybody else. Replace him with a weird mascot character that barely fits the game's setting who gives a shit. Just take this awful awful man away from this game and this trilogy. All the bara art is NOT worth this.
