Naruto's Ramen Predicament

As the new Hokage, Naruto faced his toughest challenge yet: a mountain of paperwork that rivaled the height of Hokage Rock. His stomach growled, betraying his focus, as the tantalizing scent of Ichiraku's ramen wafted through the window."Maybe just one bite," he thought, eyeing the steaming bowl on his desk. But as he reached for it, a gust of wind — a prank from Konohamaru, no doubt — sent papers flying like shuriken, covering the bowl. Naruto chuckled, "Guess it's paperwork for lunch again!" But even the mighty Hokage couldn't resist. With a swift Rasengan, he cleared the desk, papers neatly stacked, and finally, took a victorious slurp. "Ah, the taste of victory... and miso!"

Day 20

Today, I indulged myself in two of my favorite fandoms.

First off was Naruto.

How did I indulge in such a thing when the Leaf Village isn’t a real place?

Well, Konohagakure might not be real, but Ichiraku Ramen is!

Author Kishimoto Masashi has been quoted as saying that when commuting to school in Fukuoka, he traveled through Kyusandai as a student, so while creating Naruto, he drew a lot of inspiration from the area...including a one Ichiraku Ramen shop. Unfortunately, the original store is closed, but there’s more than one. Supposedly, there’s one near the Fukuoka airport, in Kasuya, but several websites and reviews state the location is closed. So not wanting to risk wasting my time for a place that might not be there, I went a little further North to the store in Matsushima.

Ordered Miso chashu pork ramen. Because again, Naruto.

Did not disappoint.

It was some of the best ramen I’ve ever had. The broth was incredible. Rich, but not overwhelming, and its flavor complimented everything else in the bowl. The pork was savory and pretty much melted in my mouth. The noodles were firm, but still easily slurp-able.

And as you can see, they don’t skimp on toppings either. There was an incredible amount of bean sprouts, green onions, and pork on top of the noodles. It was so good that while my stomach was telling me no more I’m full, my taste buds were crying out for more.

I did the adult thing tears and listened to my stomach, not my taste buds, and headed back to my room for a couple hours till it got dark. And once the sun had set, I ventured back out.

This time, my destination was the Fukuoka Airport.

First off, the international terminal!

Part of the reason I waited till dark was to more appropriately match the setting from the show. The other part was so that I wasn’t as visible, walking around the parking lot, taking random pictures.

Then, because I hadn’t seen anyone post about the inside, I decided to see what the arrivals area was like.

Not a whole lot going on. No glass to romantically run past together. Just two doors that open when someone walks through. So I thought, maybe they took inspiration from the domestic terminal. So onto the transfer bus I went.

Eh...it was a bit closer. The glass wall was there. But instead of being a walkway, it was just one big open area where the baggage claim was located.

So yeah, who knows how they finally decided on the design for the inside the airport in the show. It could be another completely random airport that they copied, or they could’ve just created it themselves. I personally don’t know. Either way, I’m glad they did what they did, because the airport scene was beautiful!

Not gonna lie though...taking the arrivals shots was utterly terrifying. I was paranoid the entire time that I was gonna get pulled aside and asked what I was doing because I was just walking around taking pictures with no luggage myself and no one that I was dropping off or meeting. So there was no ‘let’s try and wait for the crowd to clear so I can get a good shot’...no, it was just ‘snap a picture real quick while there’s several bodies in between the line-of-sight of me and the security guard posted at the arrivals door and then GTFO’
