This Spicy Lasagna in the Slow Cooker is an easy way to enjoy a classic comfort food dish with a kick of heat. It will become a family favorite because it has spicy meat sauce and lots of cheese.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 1 onion, diced. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 can 28 oz crushed tomatoes. 1 can 6 oz tomato paste. 1 teaspoon dried basil. 1 teaspoon dried oregano. 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes. Salt and pepper to taste. 12 lasagna noodles, uncooked. 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese. 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese. 2 cups ricotta cheese. Fresh parsley, chopped optional, for garnish.
Instructions: Cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic in a skillet until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. It's time to add the tomato paste, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Let it cook for 10 minutes. Put the mozzarella, Parmesan, and ricotta cheeses in a different bowl and mix them together. Put some meat sauce in the bottom of the slow cooker. Place 4 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce. If necessary, break them up to fit. Cover the noodles with a layer of the cheese mixture. Do this again and again, ending with a layer of the cheese mixture. Put the lid on top and set the heat to low. Cook for 4 to 6 hours, or until the noodles are soft and the cheese melts and bubbles. If you want, you can add fresh parsley as a garnish before serving.
