Joining a Great Organization
This previous weekend was convention for DPhiL sisters. It was a great experience in Chicago. Looking back, I'm glad I joined this sorority my first semester in college. I enjoy the fact that we are still newly established on my campus so then I am able to witness the growth and development that lie ahead. I enjoy the fact that I have met so many sisters across the states. I enjoy the fact that we are bonded together with commonality. I am highly satisfied being in Delta Phi Lambda Asian Interest Sorority, Inc. After this weekend, I am newly inspired to make DPhiL thrive on campus.
May 2-May 3
This date is when I went to formal with my sisters. I am now formally installed and truly officially a part of Delta Phi Lambda. Formal was in Indiana which was 5 hours away from Iowa City. We crossed into a different time zone which was one hour ahead. I wouldn't say it was very fun, but it wasn't really boring either. I'll just leave it at interesting. However, I did meet some different sisters although there wasn't really time to talk much. I had fun watching other sister's strolls as well as seeing everyone all dressed up. I barely got any sleep this weekend but it's okay. My date's name is Ian and he wasn't really talkative with me at all, but whatever, I'm glad that's done and over with. There were also quite a bit of Asian Fraternity guys. It feels a lot more different than here where there is only one. I don't know, I want to meet more people I guess. Anyway, if there was anything I was excited for this weekend, it was finally being able to give our Mama her paddle. To be honest, it was quite stressful and I know one of my sisters could tell by the way I talked. We had months to do it, but really a few weeks since we bought the paddle. We decide to wait until the very last day right before formal to finish it. We finished at 4 in the morning, but I couldn't have been more proud. It's true that my line works best under pressure and stress. I guess it's the fact that we need to have it done that actually motivates us to work on it. But yeah, it's a beautiful paddle that our Mama definitely deserves. We also definitely surprised everyone there with our two 6ft paddles all hand painted and whatnot. We may be the newest chapter, but we are definitely proud and we definitely work hard.
