I shall do my best! This took a while because I wanted to do some extra research on the difference between demiromantic and other forms of aromanticism. OwO I hope it is at least good enough to satisfy, and if anybody have any tips on writing for demiromantic readers/characters, let me know!

Wally Darling with a Demiromantic Reader Headcanons:

❤️ Wally is, to be honest, a bit more confused with a demiromantic reader than an aromantic reader. This is mainly due to him believing that romantic love, alongside any other form of love, counts as a strong form of emotional connection in it of itself. So, to learn that some people don't feel romantic emotions towards others unless they have a strong form of emotional connection... He gets confused.

❤️ So, after you told him about you being demiromantic, you would also have to explain the difference between your version of a strong emotional connection, and his own. He'll happily sit and listen to you talk, even if some words might go over his head. As with most other forms of LGBTQIA+ readers and neighbors, he might not understand fully, but he will always accept.

❤️ That's something he wants you to be well aware of, too! To be honest, he always gets worried that him being confused could be mistaken for him being frustrated or upset with you. That is far from it! He loves you, even if he has to settle for platonic love while he might feel a bit differently, but he just is a bit lost! In other words, he's a little confused, but he's got the spirit!

❤️ If you are willing, he's happy to try to make an emotional connection with you. He might be a bit confused on the differences between your version and his version of emotional connections, but that's what makes it fun to make one! It will be like an adventure! A new experience that he wants to try!

❤️ Though, if you do decide to tell him that that is not how it works, he'll understand. Technically, now that he thinks about it, trying to make an emotional connection might do the opposite. An emotional connection should be made by just... hanging out? Is that how it works? That would make sense. You shouldn't force one, even if you don't mean to. Actually, if he tried to make one on purpose, you might make an emotional connection for a Wally that isn't really the true Wally! It would be a facade! Oh no! Is he overthinking things? He doesn't want to seem like a jerk accidentally!!!

❤️ All in all, Wally is like that one guy on the sidelines trying to understand things! Or like a person who is fully supportive, but a little bit lost from being from a different time! Back in the 70s, there were a lot less gender/sexual/romantic identities, so he needs to get caught up. He is happy to do so, however, and will even go out of his way to get more information! He might just need a little time to learn, as well as a few breaks in-between as to not get overloaded. In time, he might be a little LGBTQIA+ genius. Either way, he's going to support you, no matter what! He wants every neighbor to be comfortable in the neighborhood! He'll even try to make you a pride flag, either a painting of one or maybe even a blanket with the colors.
