Nowadays, when it comes to clay, stoneware clay is my thing. But I've had some fun with polymer clay before (and absolutely will again some day) and I've also briefly got to try my hands on earthenware clay. It was during a sculpting course, which was a part of a study year with a bit of this and that in it.
This is one of the things I sculpted. It's just under 30cm tall, weighed a lot, and was a pain to hollow out. It's rough in places because of time limits and because I didn't really expect to keep it - or anything else I had made. My teacher convinced me, though. So this and another, about equally big but slightly heavier, thing got a trip to the kiln. The nice, shiny, dark grey clay turned into a dull, matte, light orange colour. Like the most boring brick. But I think I'll cover it in graphite one day, when I have a better working space for that sort of thing.
Still, I like the pose and overall style of it. Wish I could have worked out some parts, even though the roughness sometimes kinda works in it's own way. Also, working in this size was fun. I'd like to do it again some day. Under different circumstances.
