Hey I'm Zxo Zxomon. I mostly draw stuff and make clay stuff.

Shapes and lighting is tricky. I kinda like the shape of this face-octopus, but only when I hold it up and see it clearly. At a distance it just looks like a lump of clay. So I'm going to paint it and hopefully it'll look like what it is a bit more.

Sculpting those tentacles took longer than it was worth but I still like it. I should not be against doing a bit of useless things. I mean, I played Plants vs Zombies for 6 hours straight recently. Could as well add tedious, time-consuming details to clay. (I was very tired and brain didn't work though so I couldn't really do anything, but still)

Stoneware clay things waiting in line to be painted. All of them looking more cold/blueish in their colours here than they do right now in natural daylight. Paints and colours and lights sure is a thing to keep in mind and I shouldn't be painting in a dark room, at night, with cold lamp light. I still do though. It's just what it is.

Regardless. Painting these is awesome and now I need to sculpt more things not only because sculpting i wonderful but because I also need more things to paint. I need this in my life now it's just the way it is. No going back.

Greenware, stoneware clay thingy I was working on. Basically a 3d doodle without any real plan, but the likelihood of a face being involved is always high. It has since then been fired and done and I might paint it, if the acrylics-on-stoneware works out with other pieces.

In this photo I was playing around a bit with coloured light. I don't do that often, even though I can easily change the colour of the light above my desk. Changing the colour of the light sure puts things in... a new light, one might say.

Also, and this has nothing to do with the clay thing or the photo... I kinda wish long posts on tumblr worked a bit differently. It would be practical to simply add new, related things to the end of them, like a thread, but especially with photos of things that just feels impractical. They're just too... scrolly. And I think I'd prefer it if the latest part of it was visible, instead of the first one. Otherwise they all look the same even when you add new things. I don't know. I'm just not really comfortable with the format I guess.

First post of the year yey.

This is a stoneware clay sculpt, ~85mm tall. It's made from a mix of reused clays in the studio I go to so I didn't know what colour and texture it was going to get. It also has a few spots from one of the clay types involved.

It's fired and done, and now my plan is to paint it with acrylic paint. I don't know yet how well it will stick and how I'll work with it, but doing is learning I guess.

More clay things I want to add some paint to. This tired face needs a little something. I'll try to make it kinda realistic, if I can. But I'll have to see how the paint works and what I can do with it. He looks worried - as he should.

I haven't decided yet how I want the eyes on this one. My plan is, vaguely, to make it cartoonish but with realistic surfaces. So not just flat colour but with added texture if I can make it work. But again, I'll see what works and what I can do.

I didn't like this one but still spent a while making it, so it's going to be painted. Perhaps it can get some kind of a glow-up. I can decorate it with flowers.

This one from last year is already painted with engobes but really needs some work.

I want to make the insides more insidey! First with paint and then with some gloss to let them shimmer. Not sure what I want to do with the outside though.

I really hope painting these with acrylics is going to be fun and look decent. It would be great if that was a thing I can do.

Happy Winter Solstice! The nights over here in Sweden are long and dark right now and I'm looking forward to longer days. The dark can be cosy but we haven't even had much snow to lighten everything up a bit. It's just been dark.

I'm in that kind of state of mind right now where I can't draw and nothing I do is good at all but I'll keep drawing anyway.

A "close enough" Rudolph. Anything vaguely reindeer shaped with something red on the nose is giving Rudolph vibes. Or even anything on four legs with a red nose. Actually a lot of things quickly give Rudolph vibes if you add a shiny red nose to them. It's either Rudolph or clown.

Kinda makes me want to make a series of drawing where I slowly add reindeer stuff to a clown to see when it turns into Rudolph.

I just doodled a lil monster Santa and don't feel like adding any more details to it now so that's when a drawing is done.

Had a bit of fun doodling yesterday evening before bed. Hohoho evrybudeeh.

I uploaded this little doodle on BlueSky and it was immediately labelled "Adult Content: Explicit sexual images". Which I can kinda see, but also not. It's just a machine looking at it, sure, and I guess the pose is unusual outside of... certain contexts.

So anyway I wanted to try something. I wanted to draw some random stuff and see how "sexual"/"nude" it had to get, and in what way, for the system to flag it. The purpose was never to post sexual stuff without getting flagged, so I don't think anyone would mind.

Anyway...

This cakefish did not get labelled. Potatoes successfully smuggled, one might say.

This one also did not get labelled. I thought maybe the shape of the legs could trigger it, but that wasn't enough.

This one was though. It got the label "Sexually Suggestive: Does not include nudity." Which is kinda fair because I think most adults, or at least a huge chunk of them, would be able to see where the extra heads had been placed. Still, I don't think it's a sexual drawing at all.

This is how far I've got. It's interesting what shapes get stuck in the filters and what doesn't. I'm actually fine with it catching things in the grey zone, or even some that shouldn't have the labels. While I do want people to be allowed to post sexual stuff online, I also want it to be easy to opt out of it.

And, getting more or less innocent stuff stuck in a mature content-filter is kinda funny to me personally.

Wanted to doodle for a bit just to relax. I've been quite stressed out, anxious and most likely a bit depressed for a while now but doodling kind of works temporarily as long as I manage to forget about reality and having to pay bills etc etc.

But I did this and then my hand hurt. I'm not drawing as often anymore and somehow it's like I'm out of shape. Which is just... like... I don't even know.

It's like a pile of old treasure, dug up from somewhere. The octopus amulet adds a bit of "cursed" to the treasure, too.

I really like the black clay. It just has such a nice shimmer to it. And together with engobes it can get a kind of "old metal"-look which I really like. I want to experiment a bit more and see if I can make it look like rust. Because I just like the look of rust but it's not really something you can make sculptures or jewelry out of because of sharp edges and how it flakes and stuff.

Playing with those buttons like they were coins from an old pirate treasure! (They make nice sounds together too)

I want to make more buttons and I want to make small coins! Don't know for sure what I'd use them for but I want to make them! Maybe with holes in the middle so they can be worn as necklaces or something. Or as game markers? I have to think of something.

Old doodle. I just flipped it 90° and fixed a few little details. Done. Because sometimes if a drawing just looks boring all you do is tilt your head and taadaa! - slightly less boring maybe!
