demonnero replied to your post: Is that a recent dislike or have you always held that feeling
I’ve added to that, haven’t I, Phillip?
You've added to a lot of things.
I learned about Nero in my History of Architecture class.
ACCORDING TO MY TEACHERS AWESOME BUT UNORTHADOX STORYTELLING SKILLS:
Basically he's a Roman ruler (the worst of them) who was brought to power as a kid by his mother, who ruled Rome through him and as he got older he and her had this struggle/issue and he went crazy. He was the one who had Saul/Paul put to death and he also had his mother killed, which she told her killer to stab her through her womb where she'd born the child that was responsible for her death.
Then he went even more crazy and basically decided that he wasn't happy with his living spaces and wanted the entire area where the upperclass citizens of Rome lived. Which that area was soon after burned down. He then used Romes resources to build this like castle estate for himself with gardens and shit and all this great stuff Romans loved but he had a wall around it so no one could see it.
Which pissed the Romans off and they had an uprising/heavel/surp and basically killed Nero and leveled his castle/etc to the ground and then the next rule, the first Flavian, built the Colosseum on the foreground of Nero's castle as a way to make amends with the people of Rome.
But for real.
Nero was the worst of the worst for rulers of Rome, according to my teacher. He was nutso.
He was Nero.
Blood bath.
...What's the point in liking that?
I hate you.
Really? What about making you hurt your precious Christopher? Hypothetical question, of course.
...You can't do that. So it doesn't count.
What if I forced you to do something instead?
...If you're trying to worry me, you aren't. There's nothing you can possibly do to me at this point that would get to me.
