We are all in a very similar situation right now, I would assume. I spend a large part of my day reading about the protests going on everywhere in the world, listening to what far smarter and far more eloquent people than me have to say. It is everywhere, you can't miss it. This became some kind of social media thing. And while that is somehow disappointing because it is not was is primary needed right now, I can see a positive aspect coming with this. At least being anti-racist is considered mainstream and good for your image.

This brings me to my second point. With this being the one thing, everyone talks about, it is also what has dominated most of my thoughts, especially today. This may be surprising, be even though I am not from the US, this has affected me. I care about this shit, because it is just another evidence of incapacity of our 'modern' society. This is just a reminder of the fact, that racism is something as old as time, that must be beaten as fast as possible. In light of recent events, it seems so pressing, that it might seem most important. But this just adds up to the huge pile of shit we must deal with soon and effective. As my thoughts continue to spiral down even more, reading yet another article, hearing yet another speech I feel this immense feeling of thread hovering over me, making me feel helpless and insignificant.

How can this possibly be resolved. How can the racial conflict be solved with this man sitting in the White House? How can bridges be build, when mainly violence on both sides makes it into the news, making the fronts harden and every constructive outcome unreachable.

And here in Germany, I never thought, really thought about how severe everyday racism is. Being aware of the issue, but in my one bubble. Have I missed this, something I promised myself never to do? Or is it not that bad? Am I acting like this is not my problem?

My view onto the world changed in this passed months and this is the tip of the iceberg. The world order has shifted in my head.

With all this going through my mind, I felt suffocated and I had to step back. Which is my third point. There is a limit, of how much bad news and thoughts I can take a day. And this is it. So, I distanced myself. Distracting me with homework while feeling swirly guilty to do so. Should I be able to take this? Is it selfish to do this? Does it mean I care not as much, or does it make me feel this way because I do?
