Where to Watch Sports on Game Day When Your Goal Isn’t to Watch Sports.
Heading to a sports bar on a game day is a great way to pick up a dudes as the bars are 70/30 in your favor. Below is my guide of top spots to visit next Sunday. Side note: Many of the men are there to actually WATCH the game, so commercials are the best time to approach/attack.
4. Trionas. (237 Sullivan Street) Only worth going to when the Chicago Bears are playing, or is REALLY low key (read: empty). Being raised in Chicago, I have a soft spot for Midwestern boys as they are usually a. nicer and b. rowdier. Trionas Website
3.The Thirteenth Step. (149 Second Avenue) Always a crazy scene on game day. Its a numbers game here, as it’s a huge venue and packed to the brim. You have a good chance of meeting someone as there are so.many.dudes. Side note: You can play the competitive sport of beer pong here. The Thirteenth Step Website
2. The Windsor. (189 W. 10th) Located in the heart of the West Village, the Windsor is the waspiest sports bar in town. If you want boat shoes and quality beer (or prosecco!) on sports day, this is for you. The Windsor Website
1. The Ainsworth. (122 W. 26th) Depending on the game, the Ainsworth can get a little bridge and tunnel, but without a doubt, it is loaded with gems. It’s more of a “scene” than the other two bars, but as a wasp who spends little to no time in “sceny” places, I still enjoy an Ainsworth Sunday. Side note: Girls are often dressed up here. Honorable mentions:
Dempseys. (61 Second Avenue). It can be hit or miss, but you will never be short on people. Side note: Great fries. Demspey's Website
Spring Lounge. (48 Spring Street) Just so you have another excuse to go… however, they only have one TV. Spring Lounge Website
Village Pourhouse. (64 Third Avenue) Like The Thirteenth Step, it’s a numbers game as this place is always packed. Pourhouse Website.
