"How would you describe that?" "Whoa." #StepBrothers Denali 100 was incredible once again! This year Brett and Aaron ran it with me and my dad came up to bike the whole thing too. Easily the best views we've had of the mountain (not hard when it was covered the last two years) which made the bus ride out so fun. Unfortunately those clear skies also made it sooo hot out there, which gave way to thunder and lightning storms 😂 I felt great physically and mentally the whole run...other than an overwhelming desperation for sleep starting at about halfway. 😴 As always I loved finally coming down past the Visitor's Center and seeing my family at the park entrance cheering for me. "It is recognized that you have a funny sense of fun." #LawrenceofArabia Denali 100 was once again so much fun! We lucked out with weather avoiding the downpours we saw along the mountains while shaded from the hot Alaskan sun by the clouds! We also managed to see just about all the wildlife the park had to offer, with only a caribou getting close enough to cause concern. 😬 Mike made it to Teklanika (72ish miles and more than double his longest run ever) before the blisters covering his feet started bursting 😫 @covarrubiastony and I got Mike on a green camper bus and pressed on, eventually finding both the hard rain and scorching sun in the last 15 miles. We also took turns setting the pace and sleep-running. 😴 Finally, @kileyanng was there with my girls to cheer us on to the finish! I'm so grateful for friends to share the "special fun" of Denali 100 with, the smiles and cheers from all the rangers/drivers/staff of @denalinps and an incredible wife who supports me before, during, and after adventures like this! #Denali100 #alaska #ultrarunning #ohlookitsaporcupine (at Denali National Park and Preserve)

"It's gonna be fun. You nervous?" #BigDaddy It's the 2nd annual Denali 100! I had so much fun last year with @bretski1 that we had to do it again. While he couldn't make it this year (😢) Mike Madsen and @covarrubiastony were brave enough to join me this time! We're about to catch the good ole green bus back to Wonder Lake, run to the end at Kantishna and finally make our way to this glorious finish line here! "I had an awesome time." "I know you had an awesome time. The entire town knows you had an awesome time." #OldSchool Wow the inaugural Denali 100 was incredible! I finished the 100 mile self-supported journey in 28:57 (a missed bus stop and searching for water to filter really added up and the distance ended up being 105 miles according to my watch 😳). Our dropbags in the bear-proof garbage cans made excellent aid stations and although we only caught a glimpse of the peak through the clouds, the weather was superb. Tragically @bretski1 "only" made it 78 miles before dropping out to take a bus in for some medical care, and it was a hard to run alone those last 30ish miles. Miraculously @kileyanng and @alexisj3 arrived with our families at the park just in time and a big cheering section awaited me at the finish! Also a HUGE shout out to the many smiles and friendly waves from fellow park guests, as well as the incredible park rangers and staff of @denalinps for their hard work keeping Denali National Park preserved for future generations and hopefully iterations of the Denali 100! #Denali100 #FindYourPark #HumansofDenali (at Denali National Park and Preserve)
