LONG POST ABOUT A DANCING COWBOY HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS
Will someone please explain to me WHY there is so much negativity and speculation surrounding Bonner and Sharna, both as a team and as individuals? It’s so bizarre to me. I don’t get why so many people feel like they just have to say something rude because they don’t like him/his dancing or don’t see the chemistry btw him and Sharna. Like??? The man almost died a year ago and all you have to say is that he’s one dimensional/can’t dance/should’ve been voted off? Like for real? How callous do you have to be? I don’t care how much you don’t like the dude, he’s a quite literally a walking miracle and from what we’ve seen he hasn’t done anything wrong/problematic/whatever. Why are y’all so salty about a pretty cowboy? Calm down, at least for your own health if not for anything else.
My personal take on the whole situation is that both he and Sharna were really thrown off by how intense the reaction was the first week, so they’ve both just been keeping it low key on social media in an attempt to shut people up, which is 1000% understandable. Put yourselves in their shoes. I also don’t think either of them are romantically involved with each other (probably because of the reaction from the media and fans lbr) or anyone else, and even if they were it’s not our place to say anything about it and cause drama. It’s their personal lives and emotions we’re toying with, guys. That’s what got us all into this mess in the first place.
I’ve never been much on shipping, but a policy I’ve always abided by and had great success with is “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” Let the shippers ship in peace, y’all. This season’s really tough because there are a lot of really good dancers and great personalities competing with a really good mix of pros. But that doesn’t give you the right go out of your way to degrade someone’s favorite team because that team annoys you, alright? Life is so much easier when you realize that don’t have to be mean to people.
And I’ll say it now so no one’s wondering. I personally love Bonner. I’ve always been weak for cowboys, I think he’s incredibly respectful and sweet to Sharna, he was beautifully graceful during their VW, and I find his reservedness kind of refreshing. He’s not a celebrity in the typical sense of this show in that he comes from a very different culture where the guys tend to come off as a little stiff sometimes. Go to a stock show and see what I mean. The fact that he’s even doing this competition is really something to be admired, considering he ALMOST DIED (I just feel like this should exempt him from all cruel comments about his dancing abilities, but what do I know?). And Sharna happens to be my favorite pro, so yes, I am biased in their favor. But I also love all the other teams. And even if I didn’t I wouldn’t say anything about it because it’s just not necessary. Novel idea, I know, but it keeps the stress at a minimum.
Feel free to chime in. Respectfully.
