send me a ship and i'll write something small for it!

"Ready?"

Oliver watches as Denny gets into position at the starting point of the track outside the school. It's a Saturday, so they're the only two there, giving Denny a clean run to the finish. He glances up at Oliver, smiling as he does so, and Oliver's heart does a quiet little jump as he smiles back.

"Ready!" he calls, and Oliver fiddles with the stopwatch in his hand, smoothing his thumb over the start button.

"Three! Two! One! Go!" Oliver yells, starting the timer at go, and Denny shoots off like a rocket around the track. Oliver smiles to himself as he watches, resting his chin in his palm.

"Look at you, being all lovey-dovey."

He starts at the voice behind him, turning to see Phil coming to sit on the grass next to him. "You scared me…" Oliver murmurs, pointedly ignoring what he said.

Phil, in turn, pointedly ignores what Oliver said. "How long have you been at this now?"

"Uh," Oliver says, glancing at his watch and pressing his lips together because he knows Phil will make fun of him for this, "like an hour."

"You've been watching Denny run around the same track over and over again for an hour."

Oliver very purposefully does not look at him. "Shut up."

denny: i'm so happy i could kiss you!

oliver: neat!

[later]

oliver: i can't believe i said neat. who says neat anymore?? it's not neat to say neat but i said it anyway because i'm a loser!!

cassiopeia: hey, don't worry about it. remember what i said when marcassin confessed his love to me?

oliver: didn't you thank him?

cassiopeia: i thanked him.

recently played nnkwotww on switch and fell in love and have now scoured most of the tumblr content; i love u and ur mind v v much; i combined deniver and ur "ollie grows up to be tall" headcanon to make "ollie grows up to be v tall but his Hubby Denny, Olympic/professional runner, is even freaking taller, so ollie is Still the tiny one, and everyone around them suffers their schmoop". i felt like u would appreciate the thought. thank u for ur contributions to society
