nothing is funnier to me than looking at the last exchange and realizing it's just two denkis having a conversation like gollem and smeagol

why do you say denki comes from money?

i have several incredibly airtight and not at all circumstantial pieces of evidence for this theory:

1) denki is the name of the big electric/tv company in the series (I think it's literally the word for electricity in japanese?) which means either: a) denki comes from an electricity mogul empire OR b) denki's parents thought it would be VERY funny to name their sparky son the in universe equivalent of 'Sony.' (OR both, which might be the funniest concept of all. "this is our son, Panasonic. get it? like the electrical company we own?")

2) during the sports festival, shouto chooses him along with iida & yaomomo, which to me says that shouto is VERY familiar with all three of their quirks. we already know that yaomomo, iida, and shouto all move in the same circles, being three rich kids, two of whom are recommendation students. shouto's smarter than to think denki's electrical powers are simply the strongest out of the whole class (when there's players like tokoyami, tsuyu, or even aoyama involved) so i think it's reasonable to infer that he knows denki as well as he knows the other two. I think all four of them know each other from outside of ua like, say, rich people parties, & they probably used to play heroes and villains while their parents wined and dined. shouto, being insane, probably spent all his time thinking considerably about how they would utilize all four of their powers in a fight

3) there's no WAY denki passed the written entrance exam and got in on his own merit

-look i JUST think that denki is an idiot with bad taste. he’ll grow out of it

-kamui woods has a massive fanbase of girls and i imagine denki sees this and  sees kamui’s hot boys costume and thinks: gotta cop that look.

-basically denki redesigns his costume just for the attention

-let denki have his hot girl summer 2150

-honestly he’s got the gear already, its just the baggy leather pants and white t-shirt that have GOTTA go

-jiro and denki already have complimentary color schemes, and he CLEARLY bases his hero style decisions based on what she does cough choker cough, so i dont understand why their hero costumes arent more complimentary. 

-let! denki! wear! cream!

-anyway what im saying is he’s the hero on the other end of jirou’s communicator

-LIGHTNING SWORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey conceptually...could denki communicate with electronics. like at a base level? like maybe if he asks the microwave nicely it wont burn his popcorn? actually i feel like he would BELIEVE he could communicate with electronics, but also he has no hard evidence to prove it to anyone else & all his friends just think he’s being an idiot. is he? the world may never know

About the Denki being rich thing. In Two heros him and mineta do make it to the island (as does all of class 1A) but they have to work to afford to be there. So i am not sure if he comes from a lot of money. His parents are definitely comfortable. And with his name all of their names are pretty much the meaning of their quirk so I dont think its because of money either. But i do get were you are coming from. All the other points make sense.

I thought about the two heroes working thing and here is what I think: denki is a poverty tourist ejdhhfhddjhdhddh
