Hostel Fish family and friends,
We are so very happy to let everyone know that your favorite watering-hole is NOW OPEN! Please stop by for an absinthe drink- prepared in the traditional manner- or for the crowd-favorite $5 beer+shot special. While we are eager to crank everything up again, please be aware that a mask is required, as is maintaining 6 feet of distance between parties. We will be open every day from 7am-10pm for the time being. Come say hello and grab a drink; it’s been a while!!!
Good times with good friends, at Hostel Fish!
Hoorah for snow! Let’s go skiing!
January 6th, 2019
The story of January 6th, was Marshy Roots, a talented local musician, kicking off his new Sunday night series with us. Going forward, Marshy Roots will sing and play each Sunday night, at Hostel Fish, from 8pm-10pm. He plays the heck out of the harp, while simultaneously dancing his fingers all over the neck of the guitar. He produces a very swing-folky sound, and it takes a lot of years of honing the craft to be able to play the way he does. Please make it a point to come out and dig his set one of these Sunday’s!
Several locals discovered our bar tonight and instantly fell in love. They dove right in and ordered several rounds of Leopold Bros. absinthe, as well as Ordinaire absinthe and several beers. While the music kept everyone’s spirits high, they also had a game of Cricket going on the dart board, and later bought a pitcher of beer for Kings Cup. (There are always pitcher specials available for people playing games…)
Ultimately, tonight reminded me of how cool Hostel Fish is in terms of making new connections. A few weeks ago, I didn’t know Nate (Marshy Roots) at all; now, he has a regular Sunday night series at Hostel Fish, and I’d even call him a friend. I also made connections with one of the locals, who happens to be a musician. We’re going to meet up and jam some time.
You never know, you never know, who you might meet here, and where it’ll go….
Cheers!
Remember, Open Mic at Hostel Fish every 1st and 3rd Saturday nights of the month!

Tonight was a busy night at Hostel Fish!
There were lots of check-ins and calls throughout the night, and our guest Happy Hour was very popular. A couple of months ago, we enacted a guest Happy Hour that occurs daily from 7pm-8pm, and includes 2 free drinks for all Hostel guests! Take advantage, Fishes. There were also several people picking up or dropping off luggage with us as part of our BagBnB service. Ever been traveling and wish you could ditch your luggage for awhile? There’s nothing more freeing. I’m a big fan of the idea. In other cool news: I had some good conversation with a gentleman from Argentina. I would speak to him in Spanish, and he would respond in English, so it was great practice for each of us. We spoke of his vacation in Mexico, which was particularly interesting to me since I’m journeying there in February. He also showed me his small town in Argentina. The name escapes me, unfortunately, but it was ridiculously picturesque, nestled beautifully in the Andes near the Chilean border. There was a good amount of diversity, as far as country/state representation goes, tonight. There were guests hanging out and buying drinks for each other from Australia, China, Germany, Canada (Quebec), Argentina, California, New York, Michigan, Texas. This is what I mean when I call Hostel Fish a crossroads of the world. All in all, it was a fun night at Hostel Fish! Wish you were here?
When waiting on the Rockies/Dodgers baseball game, you might as well stop into Hostel Fish for a drink and a jam!
