Deon Estus moved to Dublin to play with Phil Lynott. He ended up giving George Michael (and Wham!) groove

George Michael could play bass – but it was Deon Estus who gave his songs groove, especially on 1987's Faith album...

I loved the Wham! documentary, but... it didn't say anything about the band's bass player, Deon Estus. He learned to play the bass from James Jamerson himself, was part of the funk band Brainstorm, and played with Marvin Gaye!

Deon Estus, a singer and musician who played bass guitar for the '80s pop group Wham!, has died, according to a post on his Twitter page.

Apparently Deon had been experiencing some issues with his heart recently. Rest in paradise Deon, say hi to George for us. 😢
