Who is Derek Hood? -- Hood is an American professional basketball player from Kansas City, Missouri that used to play for the Charlotte Hornets, the Philadelphia Sixers, the Phoenix Suns and the Dallas Mavericks.
Nowadays, he is currently a free agent, after the Mavericks let him go in late 2004 and he has not been signed with another basketball team since.
Was Derek Hood drafted out of high school or college? -- No, while a student at the University of Arkansas, he was a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks, but was not chosen during the 1999 NBA Draft. This meant he was free to sign with any team he wanted to if he was asked.
Four months after the 1999 NBA Draft, Hood was asked to sign with the Charlotte Hornets. He was only with the North Carolina team for just under two months, however, before he became an unrestricted free agent again.
Has Hood ever played internationally? -- Yes, Derek Hood has played for the Italian club Snaidero Udine, as well as the Venezuelan club Toros de Aragua. He has also played with the French team ASVEL Villeurbanne.
Does Hood have training camp experience? -- Yes, he does. He has been at training camp in the United States five times between 1999 and 2004.
He first attended training camp with the Charlotte Hornets, and a year later again with the Philadelphia Sixers.
He has also trained with the Phoenix Suns, and been at training camp twice with his last team the Dallas Mavericks.
