Derek Hale, a quiet and reserved fourteen year old boy who works in his father’s flower shop during the summers, has taken to singing and talking at length to the plants as they are a lot easier to talk to than most people. He doesn’t notice the boy who stands at the corner of the large-paned window at the front of the shop who watches Derek every day. The boy with chocolate dots on his face and honey-molten eyes who has listens to Derek hum and sing potted plants and flowers for weeks now.
He only has a few hours before he hears his mother calls out for lunchtime. Before Stiles heads to the polish bakery his mother owns, he stands there in awe of the older boy who sings almost as well as his mother does to orchids and other pretty plants. He throws another glance over his shoulder as he turns to leave towards the boy in the shop. He’ll be back soon, perhaps the very next day, to watch the older boy talk to plants and maybe this time Stiles might even open the door to say hi.
