MORGAN REQUESTS YOU SAY? Prithee, harken, I shall deliver upon thine request.
Morgan (who has experience with Garcia's mile long coffee orders) memories every little preference for his girl; He's got your coffee order, your sandwich order for like eight different places, your favourite colours. That kinda thing yk.
Derek walks into the bullpen with a bag of fast food that's wafting such incredible smells throughout the room that you genuinely consider running off with it. But he's infamous for his tackle, and if you bat your eyelashes at him he might let you have some, which is more than you'd get if he flattened you in the hallway. So you swallow the sudden surge of saliva on your tongue, looking wounded, "If I'd known you were getting lunch I'd have given you my order."
He chuckles, and you think it's a bit cruel, but you're still aiming to get a few fries, so you hold your tongue. He sets the bag down, perilously close to the edge of your desk that's flush with his own, and your patience begins wearing very, very thin. Your stomach aches with a new but deep-seated hunger that's entirely fueled by the smell of grease and potatoes coming from inside the flimsy bag, and Derek tosses a straw at you.
"I know your order," He grins, like it's funny, "I ate mine in the car. That's all yours, gorgeous."
Hope blooms in your chest.
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and you peel the bag open with eager fingers to discover that your handsome boyfriend had absolutely nailed your usual order, straight down to the dipping sauce.
"Oh my god." You murmur into the bag, drinking in lungfuls of the scent, "Oh my god! Derek," You whine, peering up at him a he passes over a soda that's already sweating condensation onto your desk, "This is for me?"
"Did I get it right," He asks, like that's what you're worried about, but you nod your head vehemently, fingers delicately snatching a french fry from the bag.
"You did! How did you?" You ask, pulling your burger out of the bag, its foil wrapping enticingly damp with heat, "We've been there, like, once."
"Twice." He corrects, "First time I wrote it down in my phone, second time I had it memorized. Didn't even have to think today."
You try valiantly to thank him, but your mouth is full of burger and sauce. He takes your hum as the gratitude it's meant to be, though, his smile gleaming as he watches you devour your meal.
"You're good at this, Morgan." You note, throat stinging slightly from how large of a bite you'd swallowed. You wash it down with soda, probably less-than-attractive but clearly Derek doesn't care if he'd bought it for you in the first place, "You go on a lot of fast food runs for your sisters?"
"Every night," He scoffs, "But it's Garcia who I really had to worry about. You know even Reid has trouble memorizing her coffee order? There's, like, twenty words in it."
"I'll thank them both," You decide, taking another gulp of soda that fizzes on your tongue, "But how'd you know I like their little pies?"
There's a package in the bottom of the bag with 2 strawberry hand pies, and you can tell by the way his grin deepens into a smirk that you've asked a loaded question.
You enjoy his answer, though: "You think I don't know what flavor chapstick you wear? I taste it a hundred times a day."
~°463 words, fluff, baby talk, your daughter trying to get you to understand her, etc°~
The late afternoon sun was streaming into the living room, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air.
He was settled cross-legged on the floor, stacking bright wooden blocks into a tower, while Alma—a solid, determined little chunk of a toddler—sat opposite him, deeply engaged in a serious discussion.
Alma, whose vocabulary consisted mainly of "Mama," "Dada," and a rapidly expanding collection of elaborate, highly expressive nonsense syllables, was speaking with great conviction.“Bah-boo-da! Geee-wah!” she pronounced, gesturing emphatically at the collapsing block tower.
Her dad nodded gravely, leaning in conspiratorially. “Oh, I see. The structural integrity is compromised by the load-bearing pillar at the base, which is simply unacceptable for the proposed trajectory of the intergalactic satellite, isn’t it?”
“Bah-booo! Ye!” Alma agreed, nodding vigorously.
You watched from the sofa, scrolling on your phone but smiling into your screen. You loved the completely serious, lengthy, and utterly fictional conversations he would have with his daughter.
Alma then scrambled onto the sofa beside you, grabbing your knee. She patted your cheek with a damp, sticky hand and leaned in close, her brow furrowed with urgent information.
“Mama! Goo-wah bah-bop!” she stated, pointing back toward the catastrophic block tower.
You looked down at her earnest face, tilting your head. You caught the important part, but the rest was lost to the wind.
“Hi, sweetie,” you said, reaching up to stroke her cheek. “I love your little face. But I honestly don't know what you're saying.”
She froze. Then frowned at you, pulling back slightly as if you'd just failed a crucial pop quiz.
“Bop-wa?” she repeated, slower this time, clearly trying to simplify the critical message.
“I know ‘Bop,’ but I don’t know ‘wa,’ honey,” you confessed with a light chuckle. “You’re too smart for me.”
Alma’s lower lip jutted out, and she looked immediately over at her dad on the floor, her little face a picture of confusion and betrayal. Her eyes seemed to say, Why isn't she getting the urgent intelligence report?
Her partner, still on the floor, immediately chimed in, leaning forward, winking at you.
“She said, ‘Mama, the structural integrity of the base is compromised, and the fire truck is needed for immediate reinforcement!’” he translated, his voice low and serious.
“You missed the whole point of the mission brief, sweets.”
You laughed, shaking your head at his commitment. You leaned down and kissed the top of Alma’s head. “Alright, alright. Go tell the structural engineer you need reinforcements, then.”
She beamed, instantly vindicated by his father's translation. She scrambled off the sofa with renewed purpose, grabbing the red fire truck and barreling straight back toward him, ready to rejoin the complex, secret world only they understood.

You knew how Derek spoke to Garcia long before you started dating him.
Baby girl. Gorgeous. Sweetness.
It had never bothered you before. Then Derek kissed you in the parking garage after a late case, one hand warm against your cheek, and suddenly every endearment he gave someone else felt like something being taken from you.
You hated yourself for it.
Garcia was your friend. You knew their flirting was harmless, built from years of trust and impossible cases. Derek looked at her with affection, not desire.
Knowing did not make it hurt less. Especially when no one knew about you.
Keeping the relationship private had seemed reasonable at first. The team noticed everything, and neither of you wanted something new examined beneath a microscope before you had figured it out yourselves.
Three months later, you were still pretending not to know what Derek’s mouth tasted like.
“Talk to me, sweetness,” Garcia’s voice came through the conference-room speaker.
Derek leaned over the table. “Tell me you’ve got something good for me, baby girl.”
You kept your eyes on the file in front of you.
Garcia sighed dramatically. “I always have something good for you.”
Emily smirked. Rossi shook his head. Everyone treated it like background noise.
Usually, you could too. But Derek had left your apartment that morning without kissing you goodbye because JJ had called. He had spent the entire drive to Quantico on the phone, and once you arrived, you had entered separately.
He had barely looked at you since. Now he was smiling at the speakerphone in that slow, charming way of his.
“Keep talking like that and I might have to bring you flowers.”
Garcia gasped. “You better not make promises you can’t keep.”
Something inside you snapped. You stood so quickly your chair rolled backward. “I need coffee.”
Derek’s smile disappeared.
You left before anyone could notice.
The break room was empty. You gripped the edge of the counter, staring down at a mug you had no intention of using.
You were being ridiculous. Garcia had done nothing wrong. Derek had done nothing he had not done a thousand times before you became his girlfriend.
Girlfriend.
The word felt almost embarrassing when no one else was allowed to know.
The door opened behind you.
“You okay?”
You did not turn around. “Fine.”
“You don’t look fine.”
“I didn’t know you were looking.”
Silence. Derek closed the door.
“That supposed to mean something?”
You finally faced him. He looked tired. Concerned. Completely unaware of the ache he had caused.
“You should go back,” you said. “Garcia might miss you.”
His expression changed. Understanding. “Is that what this is about?”
Heat rushed into your face. “Forget it.”
“Hey.” He stepped closer. “Talk to me.”
You laughed once, bitterly. “Should I call you baby boy first?”
His jaw tightened. The shame arrived immediately, but you were too hurt to stop.
“I know it’s stupid,” you said. “I know that’s how you two are. I knew before we started this.”
“Then you know it doesn’t mean anything.”
“That’s the problem.”
Derek frowned. “How is that the problem?”
“Because those words don’t mean anything when you say them to her, but I’m supposed to believe they mean something when you say them to me.”
His face softened.
You looked away before it could make you cry. “I’m not asking you to change your friendship with Garcia. I would never do that. But everyone gets to hear how much you adore her, and I have to act like you’re just another coworker.”
“You’re not.”
“No one knows that.”
“We agreed to keep this private.”
“I agreed to private.” Your voice broke. “I didn’t realize private would feel so much like invisible.”
Derek went still.
You swallowed hard. “This morning, you left without saying goodbye. Yesterday, you walked past me in the bullpen like I was nothing. Then you call her gorgeous in front of everyone, and I’m supposed to sit there and remember that I’m the one you go home with.”
“You are.”
“That isn’t enough if I only exist behind closed doors.”
The words settled heavily between you.
Derek rubbed a hand over his face. “I thought I was protecting us.”
“From what?”
“The team. The jokes. Everyone getting involved before we were ready.”
“And are we ready now?”
He looked at you. You had never seen Derek Morgan struggle for words.
“I am,” he said.
Your chest tightened.
“But I don’t know if you are.”
He stepped closer.
This time, you let him.
“I should’ve noticed,” he said. “I should’ve checked in instead of assuming you were okay.”
“It isn’t Garcia’s fault.”
“I know.”
“I don’t want you to pull away from her because of me.”
“I won’t.” His hand hovered near yours, waiting. “But I can be more careful with you. And I can stop making you feel like something I’m hiding.”
You stared at his hand. “Are you embarrassed of us?”
His head jerked back. “Never.”
“Then why does it feel like you are?”
Derek took your hand. “Because I handled this wrong.”
His thumb moved over your knuckles. “You’re not invisible to me,” he said. “You’re the first person I look for when I walk into a room. You’re the one I want beside me when a case gets bad. And every time I pretend you’re nothing to me in front of the team, it kills me too.”
Your eyes burned. “You’re very convincing.”
“That’s because I’m scared somebody’s gonna get involved and ruin something that’s ours.”
“No one can take it.”
“I know that now.”
He lifted your hand and pressed a kiss to your knuckles. “Let me fix it.”
“How?”
A knock sounded against the door. “Are you two alive in there?” Emily called.
Derek looked at you. Then he opened the door without releasing your hand. Emily’s eyes dropped immediately to your intertwined fingers. Her eyebrows rose. Behind her, JJ stopped walking. Rossi glanced up from the file in his hands.
Derek squeezed your hand. “We’ll be right there,” he said.
Emily looked between you, a slow smile forming. “Take your time.”
When she walked away, you stared at Derek. “That was your plan?”
“I didn’t have a plan.”
“That’s terrifying.”
He smiled.
Then, right there in the open doorway, he leaned down and kissed your forehead. Not your mouth. Not yet. But it was gentle, public and unmistakably yours.
By the time you returned to the conference room, Garcia’s call had ended. Derek remained beside you, his fingers loosely linked with yours beneath the table.
Emily noticed. So did JJ. Neither of them said anything until Garcia appeared on the monitor for the next update.
Her eyes narrowed almost immediately. “Why are you two sitting so close?”
Derek leaned back in his chair. “No reason, baby girl.”
You rolled your eyes.
Garcia gasped. “Oh, my God.”
“What?” Rossi asked.
She pointed dramatically through the screen. “That eye roll had history behind it.”
Derek laughed and slid an arm across the back of your chair.
hi jade! can we get a derek x shy!reader please? love you <3
When Derek pictured his future wife, he was gluttonous. He wanted a lot of things. Stunning, intelligent, quick. She’d be a bombshell, long legged, hair like a magazine.
You aren’t completely out of these bounds, of course, you’re beautiful and smart, you’re kind, but you’re meek. You’re very, very quiet.
Not that that matters to Derek. He’s not stupid enough to keep picturing his dream girl when she’s right in front of him. Who cares if you’re not as loud as he’d thought you’d be?
“You’re staring.”
“Am I?” he asks.
You hum. “Mm-hm. You’re staring.”
Derek takes your hand across the small table you’ve monopolised together. You let him, staring back at him for a few seconds. There’s an attempt from you to stay serious, but then your gaze wavers and you smile down at your lunch.
“Can I have some of that?” he asks.
“You wanna swap half?”
Since becoming an official couple, Derek might think going out for food together is his new favourite pastime. He’ll take you anywhere you want to go, and if you haven’t been there before you both buy a different meal to share with one another. Getting to do that at work, even on a small scale, inspires fondness and romance alike. He cuts his sandwich in half. You cut your burrito. You place it in his styrofoam tray with care and he’s twice as gentle.
“If we get some time, after this, we should try their buffet. The Pink Lotus.”
Derek beams at you. “Yeah, okay. We can always come back.”
He loves saying that to you, as though you aren’t busy beyond trips. You love agreeing.
“I’ll put it on the list,” you say, opening your hand.
Derek takes it, and you don’t take it back for your entire meal, even when Hotch comes in and sits down with his own lunch. He stresses that lunch time is legally your time, so he doesn’t make you stop. If anything, Derek thinks he looks quite happy for you both.
“What’s the verdict?” he asks as you pat your mouth with a napkin.
“Burrito was nicer, but the sandwich was fresher. Hm?”
“And messier,” he says, “you have rice on your collar.”
You look down in startled shame, then back up with betrayal. “Don’t!” You take your hand away. “Don’t joke about that.”
“Should’ve seen your face.” He stands up and gathers your finished lunch box on top of his own, leaning down to kiss you, not worrying about where it lands.
On your cheek, as it would happen. He feels your eye squeeze closed to take it.
Summary: You and Derek are always butting heads, and everyone knows to steer clear of you two whenever you have to work together. When the BAU announces its plans to put a gym for all employees on the fifth floor, you’re ecstatic. That is, until you get hurt, and Derek feels the need to work out with you just to make sure that you don’t hurt yourself again.

Spencer is the first person you see when you enter the BAU, and he is wearing a grin and holding a coffee out for you.
“Good morning, Y/N. Coffee?”
“Do you have to ask?” you laugh and take the coffee. “Thank you, Spencer. What case do we have today?”
“I hear we don’t have one. The B Team is out right now.”
“Thank God. I really didn’t want to go anywhere today.”
The smile on your face dies when you see Derek Morgan. He’s the only one who has ever been able to wipe the smile from your face. To say that you two don’t get along is an understatement. It’s not that he’s mean or bullies you, it’s just that you two are so similar that you always butt heads. There’s not a day that goes by that you two aren’t arguing over something. You never let it affect your work, but everyone knows to steer clear whenever you two have to work together.
“Hey, Reid. Prentiss. JJ,” Derek greets on his way to his desk. Unfortunately, his desk is located right in front of you. “Hi, Y/N.” You ignore him and log into your computer. “Oh, come on, baby, talk to me.”
You take a sip of your coffee. “I’m not your baby, and I’m busy.”
It’s one of those days where the time goes by fast, so it’s noon when you look at the time. There is a stack of files you’ve completed, so you’re going to put those away before taking your lunch. You log out of your computer and grab the files as you make your way to the file room. After putting the files away, you leave only to run right into someone. Someone with a hard body.
“I’m sorry—oh, it’s you.”
You look into Derek’s eyes which are swimming with amusement. As much as it pains you to admit, he’s very attractive. He’s cocky and confident and he definitely knows how to charm a woman with that panty-dropping smile. It makes you almost want to bend over for him right now. Then, you think about how he always has to be right about everything, and you’re back to being pissed at him.
“Whoa, where's the fire, baby?”
“Don’t call me baby,” you snap. “What are you doing here?”
He holds up a group of files. “Same as you.”
“Okay, well, excuse me.”
He’s the only thing standing between you and the rest of the BAU, however, he doesn’t move from the doorway.
“You’re excused.”
He’s not going to make this easy for you. You have no choice but to slide past him. This way, you can feel every dip of his body. It’s been a while since you’ve been intimate with a man, so this act puts a blush on your face. The last thing you hear as you walk away is his snicker. Oh, how you’d love nothing more than to slap that smirk off his face.
The rest of the day goes by without a hitch, and you find yourself in easy conversation with Emily. The BAU is getting an update on the building that benefits all the employees. A gym is being opened on the fifth floor where there used to be offices, but those people were allocated to different floors of the building. This gym is available for anyone to use at any time. The one at your apartment complex sucks, so you’ll be using this one as soon as it opens.
“Let’s hope. I can’t wait for Friday. I’m probably going to start on Monday before I start work.
“I can join you. What time do you start?”
“Four in the morning.”
Emily laughs. “You’re on your own, I’m afraid.”
“That’s okay. I prefer to be alone, anyway.”
Come Monday, you make sure to get to work at four, knowing you’re not scheduled to come in until six. No one being in the gym is perfect for you. You can get lost in the music for an hour and a half, allowing yourself thirty minutes to shower and change for work. The first hour of your workout goes by smoothly until you start working on your shoulders. One wrong move later, and your shoulder gets dislocated.
It fucking sucks, but it’s not the first time you’ve done this to yourself. The good news is that it’s still file day since the B Team is taking a bit longer to come home. You don’t want to make a big deal about your shoulder since the pain will go away in a few days. You can barely move your arm, but you don’t need to do strenuous work today.
Derek and Spencer walk into work, chatting about their weekend with the young doctor carrying two coffees. Derek sits at his desk while Spencer walks to yours, and he hands you the second coffee.
“Hey, how was your weekend?” Spencer greets.
“Good.”
“I brought you some coffee.”
Spencer hands it out to you, and you automatically lift your right hand. Pain explodes in your shoulder, and you immediately lower it back. Your shoulder throbs, but you try to mask your pain. You take the coffee with your left hand instead.
“Thank you, Spencer.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah. Sore muscles. I’m okay.”
Derek watches the whole ordeal with his eyes narrowed. He knows something is wrong. As soon as Spencer leaves, he speaks up. “You’re not okay.”
“Excuse me?”
“What happened? You were fine on Friday.”
“Derek, I’m okay.”
“Tell me,” he insists.
“I dislocated my shoulder when I was working out. It’s not a big deal. Not the first time I’ve done something like this.”
“You shouldn’t be working out alone. You should go after work where there will be other people.”
“Derek, I’m fine. I like working out by myself. Plus, I’m a big girl. I can handle myself.”
The pain is too great to ignore, so you go to the doctor after work, who gives you six weeks to heal. Yes, you can work out, but only light work like the treadmill or bicycles. Only until you’re fully healed can you start to lift weights again. Not only that, but Derek has been in the gym every time you have been. Four in the morning like clockwork. He usually keeps to himself on the other side of the gym, but you always feel his eyes on you the second you turn your back to him.
Six weeks later, and you’re fully healed. You can start doing pull-ups and weights. It sucked not working on your arms, but you know you have to take care of your body before overworking it. Like he has been for the past six weeks, Derek shows up exactly at four, the same time as you do.
“Seriously, Derek? Do you have to be here? I just want to work out alone,” you sigh.
“I’m sorry, is this not available to all employees at any time? Last I checked, four in the morning falls under any time, and I count as an employee.”
You roll your eyes. “Whatever.”
You go to your side of the gym while Derek goes to his, and you two start your workouts. Derek picks up heavy weights and starts with bicep curls. It’s hard not to stare at him, especially with him wearing a thin white tank top. His muscles flex with every curl, and you peel your eyes off him to focus on your own workout.
You have to use a step stool to grab the top of the pull-up bar, and you begin slowly doing your rep. By the fifth one, you’re shaking. Five is your max, but you want to push yourself to do ten. However, you only get one more out of the way. You’re not strong enough. You let yourself hang there, and Derek chuckles when he sees the look of defeat on your face.
“Do you need some help?” he asks when he walks over to you.
“I got it.”
You try to lift yourself again, but you don’t get anywhere near the bar.
“Are you sure?” he smirks.
“Help me, goddamn it.” Derek laughs. “I need five more.”
Maybe asking him to help you was a bad idea. He grabs both of your hips and lifts you slightly so that you can use your own strength to get you most of the way. With his help, you’re able to do five more.
“Let go. I’ve got you.”
Your hands uncurl from the bar, and Derek slowly sets you on your feet. You’re so close that your shirt rides up as you slide down his sweaty body. Every inch of his body is pressed against yours. Your breath mixes with his, and you hold the intense eye contact. He keeps his hands on your hips, and you can feel his fingers flex as if he’s holding himself back. It’s a game of poker that you play. You don’t know what his cards are until he wants you to know.
“Careful, Derek, your eyes look like they don’t hate me at all.”
Derek rakes his eyes down your body, bringing them back up to your eyes.
“Can you blame me? A pretty girl is in front of me, and you expect me to keep my eyes to myself?”
It’s a joke. He respects women, but there’s something raw about his words that has your thighs clenching against each other.
“You think I’m pretty?” you gasp jokingly.
“I think you’re fucking gorgeous, but I think you already knew that.”
“Sure, right,” you scoff. “Why would you think me, the woman you can’t stand to be around, is gorgeous?”
“You think I can’t stand to be around you? Who gives you coffee every morning?”
“Spencer.”
“Yeah, because I give it to him to give to you because I know you won’t accept one from me.”
“What?” you whisper.
“Yeah, or what about the fact that I’m here at four in the fucking morning every single goddamn day when I should be sleeping in my warm bed.”
You shove him away from you, but it only puts a few inches of space between you two. “No one asked you to be here.”
“Yeah, well, I need to make sure that you’re safe.”
“From what?”
“Yourself.” You shut your mouth. “You dislocated your shoulder, and you were here alone. Imagine if you did worse to yourself with no one here to help you.”
“What are you saying, Derek?”
“I think you know what I’m saying.” He steps closer. “You just don’t want to admit it.”
“What’s that?” you whisper.
“That you want me just as much as I want you.”
You grin. “Yeah? How much?”
“This much.”
He scoops you up by your thighs and slams his lips against yours. You wrap your sore legs around his lean waist, and he presses you against the side of a workout machine. This moment has been in the works for over six weeks, so the tension is high. His lips feel too good against your own to stop kissing him, so you pull him closer if possible. Instead of finishing your workout, you spend the next twenty minutes making out with him.
No one is suspicious when you sit at your desk that morning. If they see your swollen lips and flushed skin, they don’t comment on it. You made sure to put your hair down to mask the mark Derek left on your neck. If Emily, Penelope, or JJ knew what happened, you’ll never hear the end of it.
“Y/N. Morgan. A word.”
Hotch stands on the second landing right outside his office with a hard look on his face. He always looks that way, but you can’t tell if you did something wrong or if he wants to praise you for what you did.
“What did you do?” you hiss to Derek.
“Me? What makes you think I did something?”
“You always do something.” You two enter Hotch’s office but leave the door open for a quick escape. “Yes, sir?”
“I want to make one thing clear. What you do with your personal time does not concern me. The gym is meant for working out and working out only, and I don’t mean the workout you do in bed.”
“God,” you hiss and look away from Hotch.
“Don’t let it happen again.”
“Okay,” Derek chuckles.
“Yes, sir.” You two leave his office, and you smack Derek in the chest. “This is your fault.”
“If you want to work out at four in the morning, sleep over, and I’ll give you a more effective workout,” he smirks.
“You’re unbelievable,” you scoff with a smile on your face.

Sunlight softly cascading through the skylights in your bedroom awakens you, eyelashes fluttering softly against the pillow - once, twice, thrice - and then your eyes are all the way open. Instantly, you find out that there’s an empty space in the bed next to you when your hand meets the plump mattress rather than rigid muscle. What you had expected to find was your boyfriend laying next to you, preferably with an arm draped over your waist, yet there was nothing - no one - there.
Confused and still slightly disoriented, you sit up in bed with one hand still resting in the empty space next to you while the other wipes the sleep dust from your eyes. As the fog starts to lift from around your brain, providing the clarity needed to think, you recall today is his day off and it only makes the confusion worse. Being called in to work was always a possibility, but he tends to wake you up every time to say goodbye.
It’s only when the smell of coffee and cinammon sneaks its way through the doorway and into your nose that everything clicks; Derek’s not gone, he’s simply just making breakfast. At this new revelation, a soft grin makes its way onto your face as you stretch in bed before swinging your legs around the side of it. Your boyfriend isn’t away, he’s here with you, and that’s more than enough to get you up.
When you enter the kitchen, the smell of cinnamon only grows stronger - you figure if this was a cartoon, you’d be following the scent’s trail with a dreamy look on your face. A soft sizzling sound reaches your ears and on the counter next to the stove top are all of the ingredients for french toast.
Wrapping your arms around Derek’s mid-section, you speak, voiced laced with the rasp that only comes with early mornings, “What a mighty good man.” The Salt-N-Pepa reference earns a hearty chuckle from said mighty good man as he takes your arms away from his torso and turns to face you instead. Arms snake around your waist and soft lips find your forehead, planting a small kiss there while simultaneously smelling your hair.
“Freak,” you tease, grinning wholeheartedly.
“Oh, that’s the thanks I get, huh?”
“Mhm, you left me all alone in bed.”
“To make you breakfast, dumbass.”
“Oh, and now you’re insulting me? Worst boyfriend ever.”
He wants to kiss you to prove you wrong or follow that up with an equally teasing remark, but he’s also hyper aware of the french toast in the skillet, and you both know it. Your knowing is represented with a smug smirk while his is demonstrated through the shake of his head before he turns around and resumes cooking.

Once breakfast has been made, the two of you sit on the couch in your living room, eating together in a calming silence. Songbirds can be heard ever so faintly through one of the open windows, almost a natural soundtrack - you like to think it’s for the pair of you. Especially on days like these. He has a day off and sure, you could go out on a date or head to the gym together, or renovate the new project he’s working on. Utilise the time rather than ‘waste’ it, but it’s the slow days you enjoy the most.
Since meeting Derek, your whole perception of love has changed. Rather than a big romantic gesture, or some amazing expensive date at an upscale restaurant, you’ve started to believe that true love lies in between the lines.
The simple silence that never asks nor wants to be filled by chatter. Legs intertwined with his on the couch. Breakfast that isn’t hurried with the burden of his work lingering in the background. Knowing you’ll both probably go and lay in bed for longer after this. Fleeting touches that somehow still manage to give you butterflies every time.
The soft noise of a fork clashing lightly against a plate draws you back from your reverie, head turning towards your boyfriend who’s just placed both of your dishes on the coffee table.
“Thank you, baby,” you murmur while leaning into his side, head nuzzling into the crook of his neck.

One thing about Derek Morgan, he had never been a jealous man.
He had always been sure of himself, he had never envied anyone or anything, especially when it came to women.
But this was until he had met you. You managed to turn his world upside down, changed his way of thinking and seeing things and for the first time in his life he understood what it felt like to be jealous.
The relationship between you and Derek was a bit complicated. You worked together in the FBI, both being BAU agents. Working together didn’t stop you from getting closer, it didn’t stop Derek from constantly and shamelessly flirting with you, spending time together and building an increasingly close relationship.
Derek couldn’t lie, at the beginning he was just physically attracted to you, even if ‘attraction’ couldn’t summarize how feral he was for you. But, as time went by, you both got to know each other better, more deeply, and little by little he found himself attracted not only by your body but also by your soul, by your way of doing things, your character and he found himself wanting to spend more time with you.
Your relationship became deeper and deeper, until you slept together, which of course happened over and over again.
Derek didn’t know how to behave with you, he wasn’t used to having relationships with women that didn’t go beyond physical attraction and finding himself having feelings for a woman confused him.
Was it love?
He didn’t know, he never experienced it.
And this had created more than a few problems in your relationship.
You had started to distance yourself from him until you almost stopped talking to him, unless it was something related to work. You had always complained how it was just ‘sex’ and that you wanted more, you wanted a partner, a real relationship, you wanted to experience the love you had always dreamed about. But Derek seemed having trouble understanding this so he didn’t stop you when you stopped talking to him, even if he was suffering.
Derek had noticed it, of course, and he hated it.
He noticed everything about you, even if he had no right to.
He had noticed him too. The new arrival.
Agent Tim Novak, the newest member of the BAU. Young, good-looking, and unfortunately for Derek, way too interested in you.
Derek hated him. He despised him. So damn much.
He hated that grin on his face, the way he looked at you, the way he ran his eyes down your body with lust and desire. He hated it because Derek looked at you like that too.
It had all started out subtle.
Agent Novak would come in in the morning, a boyish grin on his face, two cups of coffee in his hands, and he would lean on the edge of your desk while he offered you one. Or during meetings he’d waste no time in sitting next to you, on the jet while you flew to a city for a new case, always bringing you stupid things to get your attention.
That bastard was always there, always in the way.
The worst part?
You seemed you didn’t mind.
To outsiders it might’ve seemed like the new agent was just a caring friend but not to Derek.
He hated that motherfucker.
Morgan had told himself over and over again that he didn’t care.
Derek Morgan wasn’t a jealous man.
He never had been and never would be.
There was no problem. He didn’t care how you laughed at the rookie’s jokes, how he seemed to have no sense of personal space, how he was always next to you, how he took every opportunity to touch you, even in a subtle way.
Derek’s blood didn’t boil when he saw Novak’s hand on the small of your back, for example, how he’d lean closer to you to whisper something in your ear.
He didn’t care.
He was fine, completely and perfectly fine.
“You’ll break the bottle if you keep squeezing it like that,” Rossi’s voice came like a buzz in Derek’s ears. That night, almost the entire team had gone to a club to celebrate the success of a case, you were with JJ and Penelope and, of course, Novak wasted no time in approaching and hitting on you.
“What are you talking about?” Derek replied, looking away from you before taking a sip of his beer, but then immediately returning his gaze to you and Novak.
He was pissed off.
But why? It was none of his business.
“You know what I’m talking about, Morgan,” Rossi laughed, amused by Derek’s obvious discomfort. “You look like you’re about to explode.”
“I’m fine,” Morgan replied angrily, taking another generous sip of beer. He almost had an aneurysm when he saw you laugh at something Novak said and put a hand on his arm.
And no, he wasn’t jealous.
“You want to tell me what’s going on between you two? You went from being all over each other every second of the day to looking at each other from afar like lost puppies and only talking to each other for work.”
“There’s nothing going on between us.”
“Oh come on, remember who you’re talking to, I have more ex-wives than money in the bank, I think I know something or two.”
Derek chuckled despite his anger but the smile died on his lips when his eyes met yours for a moment.
He tried to ignore how he felt like he had been punched in the stomach, how his heart started to beat so quickly he thought he was having a heart attack.
The rest of the group was talking but your attention was on him, on Derek.
You were the first to look away when JJ caught your attention again.
Derek sighed deeply, staring at his hands so he wouldn’t look at you anymore. But he couldn’t, it was as if a magnetic force was pulling him towards you.
“You can’t look at each other like that and say there’s nothing between you two,” Rossi urged.
“Rossi, I don’t want to talk about it, please.”
“Okay, okay, whatever,” he held up his hands in surrender, realizing that pushing would never get Derek to open up.
At some point JJ and Garcia walked away, leaving you and Agent Novak alone. He, as usual, didn’t seem to understand the meaning of personal space and would lean in and touch you at every opportunity. It wasn’t anything vulgar, nothing annoying, but Derek was losing his mind.
“If looks could kill, I think Novak would be dead on the floor,” Reid commented, earning a glare from Morgan.
“I’m not looking at anyone.”
“Oh yeah, yeah, keep telling yourself that. You look like you’re about to get up and beat the shit out of him.”
Fuck yeah, he wanted to do that.
But he wouldn’t.
He’d act like a grown-up. He was a man, an adult.
But those sentences dissolved as soon as they were formulated when he saw Novak come closer to whisper something in your ear, his hand on your back.
He didn’t know if he had been hallucinating or angry, but Derek swore for a moment he saw your gaze on him and a small smirk on your lips.
It was imperceptible, but it was there.
That was when he understood. You were making him jealous on purpose.
And that was the final blow.
Derek stood up from the table, leaving his beer there and approaching you and Novak with a murderous look on his face.
“Morgan…” Novak greeted him smiling, oblivious to the resentment Derek felt towards him.
“That’s Agent Morgan to you,” Derek interrupted immediately, interposing himself between you and Novak. “I’ll give you two seconds to get out of here and if I see you near her again I’ll make your life hell, do you understand?”
The younger man turned white as a sheet. “I’m not trying…”
Derek interrupted him again. “Go. Now.”
Novak didn’t need to be told twice and just left, without even saying goodbye to the rest of the team.
“What the hell was that?!” You asked in shock, looking at Derek with a murderous look. He didn’t say anything, he just grabbed your hand and dragged you out of the place, after placing a fifty dollar bill on the counter. His pulse roared in his ears, drowning out the hum of the city as he stormed out.
“Morgan! What the hell is wrong with you? Let me go!” You struggled, to no avail as Derek’s grip on yours was very firm.
He turned so fast you almost stumbled back. His eyes, dark with something wild and unhinged, pinned you in place.
“No. There’s no fucking way I’m going to let you go,” he snapped, his blood boiling in anger as he continued to replay the image of Novak’s slimy hands on you. “I’m not letting you go anymore, I made this mistake once and I won’t do it again. You’re coming with me now.”
“I’m not going anywhere with you until you tell me what the hell is wrong with you! What’s your problem?! You don’t get to act all caveman on me now!”
“What’s my problem? You! You’re my fucking problem! You’re driving me crazy and I’ll be damned if I’ll let another motherfucker put his hands on you.”
Your expression softened and a smirk played across your lips. “Oh my, my, is Agent Derek Morgan jealous?”
He answered without hesitation. “Yes I am. I’m jealous of every piece of shit that is near you because it has to be me. I’m the one who’s supposed to touch you, make you laugh, smile, open the door for you, pull back the chair so you can sit down or bring you coffee in the morning, only me. And I’m jealous of every fucker who gets to do that instead of me.” He took a deep breath while his eyes were fixed on yours. His usual confidence was still there, but there was something else now—something raw, unfiltered.
“You’re right, you deserve the best the world can give you, you deserve more than just sex but I’ll be the one giving you the world, not Novak or any other man. I’ll give you everything you deserve and I don’t give a damn if you think otherwise, I’ll show you’re everything I desire and everything I’ve always wanted,” he continued, now like a raging river. Your smile had faded, giving way to a neutral but shocked expression. But Derek knew you. He could see the glint in your eyes, he could feel the way you squeezed his fingers.
“I can’t take it anymore. I can’t stand seeing that son of a bitch or anyone else near you, touching you. I can’t,” he blurted out, feeling every cell in his body on fire. “I…-” he trailed off again, taking a deep breath.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t realize this sooner, but I can’t stay away from you anymore. I can’t pretend nothing happened between us. I can’t wake up every morning and act like I don’t miss you so much it’s driving me insane—that I don’t hate opening my eyes and not seeing you next to me. That I don’t miss the way your hand brushes against mine in the elevator, or the way you smile at me—in a way that takes my breath away every damn time.”
You opened your mouth to speak, visibly shocked by his words, but he didn’t let you.
“And don’t you dare speak now because you knew. You knew I was here burning and aching for you, you knew I wanted to break every single one of his bones every time he came near you.” He closed the distance between you until you had to slightly tilt your head back to look him in the eyes.
His heart was pounding, the air was cold but he felt like he was going to explode. Derek was talking but he had no idea what he was saying, he had no idea if it even made sense.
“You think I don’t give a damn? You think I haven’t spent every single day these past few weeks pining for you, cursing myself for letting you go so easily? I know, damn it— I know.” His voice cracked, raw and desperate. “But I’m fucking terrified. I… I’ve never had a real relationship before, hell not even a healthy one. I know I’m a piece of shit, but I’ve never cared what anyone thought—never cared how they might react. But you…” He let out a shaky breath.
“You messed me up, so bad baby. You got in my head, and now I don’t know how to deal with it… I just… I feel so overwhelmed by what I feel for you it’s literally driving me insane. I don’t know how to act, what the hell to say, how to be what you need me to be.”
His hands curled into fists at his sides. “Everything I do is for you. You own me. You control me—my mood, my thoughts, my whole goddamn world. And it terrifies me.”
His breathing was ragged now, his fists clenching and unclenching like he was trying to physically hold himself together.
“Because I’ve always hated being dependent on someone else and, I know it’s not an excuse, that’s why I just let you go when you left. You were right, I was afraid,” he continued, “But that doesn’t mean I don’t want you. Hell, I want you like I’ve never wanted anyone or anything in the world, so bad it’s killing me.”
You stared at him, wide-eyed, lips parted, but still—he didn’t let you speak.
“I don’t know how to do it, but I know I want to be with you, I want you and I’ll be damned if I’ll ever let you go again.” He let out another breath. “I’ll try, I promise. I’ll do anything to prove you I’m worthy, I’ll give you everything you want and desire, I’ll worship the ground you walk on, I’ll make it my mission to make you happy just… Just please… Please, baby… Give me a chance, I’ll be so good for you.”
Silence crashed down around you, heavy and suffocating. His confession hung in the air, thick with something that felt dangerously close to heartbreak.
For the first time, Derek looked away, exhaling sharply, running a hand over his face like he was trying to physically wipe the emotion from it.
“Say something,” he finally muttered, voice hoarse.
But what could you say in that situation?
You didn’t speak, not even a word.
But you grabbed his face and crushed your lips to his, pouring all the feelings you had for that man.
You sighed and that simple and almost inaudible sound was enough to unleash a wave of shivers that ran through his entire body, making his knees weak.
A guttural groan echoed from his throat and he felt the weight lift from his chest, making him finally breathe again. His arms wasted no time in encircling your waist, holding you with so much strength it seemed like he was afraid to let you go, the fear you’d disappear paralyzing him.
His lips moved against yours with hunger and desperation, almost as if trying to make up for all the wasted time, that time he just looked at you from afar but was too scared to even talk to you. Hell, that single kiss wouldn’t have been enough to vent even a crumb of the visceral desire you both felt for each other.
“God I missed you so fucking much.” He breathed in the split second you pulled away, his mouth still practically on yours. He didn’t give you time to argue, for the umpteenth time that night, because he kissed you again, taking your breath away completely.
“I missed you so much too, you idiot,” you replied in a whisper, making him smile against your lips. “God what are you doing to me, Derek.”
His hands continued to shake as he gripped you, still in disbelief this was actually happening. He pulled away from you enough to catch his breath but close enough to rest his forehead on yours.
It was only then he realized you were still outside and not alone.
You moved your hands down his chest and he had no doubt you could feel how fast and frantic his heart was beating. His hands cupped your face, his thumbs caressing your skin, brushing your hair aside.
“I’m sorry.” He whispered into a kiss. “I’m so sorry.” He kissed you again. “I’m never letting you go again.”
You smiled and he almost collapsed. He couldn’t believe that you were actually smiling at him, that the smile that had turned his life upside down was finally directed at him again.
“Let’s just go home.” You whispered, and before he could say another word, you kissed him again—slower this time, softer, but just as devastating. “But don’t think you’ll get away from this so easily.”
He smiled, feeling so light and happy like he hasn’t been in such a long time. “I’m here forever baby, do whatever you want to do with me.”
And Derek, for the first time in his life, finally let himself have what he always and really wanted.
